Brembo Caliper Questions

What is the current state of Brembo calipers?

To my mind Brembo seems to come out with new calipers all the time and oddly enough they are not all monobloc types (see GP4 RX), which is odd to me as they clearly have the tech to do all the high end calipers as monobloc. So why aren't they?

As a part that logic: Why not take a lower end mono that is theory should be superior to a more expensive two piece caliper?

And I'd also like to know if at this point have the Japanese brands such as Nissin caught up? I am thinking about buying a set of the beautiful nickel plated Brembo calipers, but is it redundant now?

Let me just add that over the years of riding, driving, etc. I've noticed that people seem equate something new, that had a different feeling with it being better. A new/different product changed the way something felt, but that means nothing in terms of actual performance gain

They aren't all monoblock due to cost. The GP4-RX is a billet caliper - it's much more involved to make a billet monoblock. M4 is a monoblock, but cast, which is much simpler to manufacture.

From our experience the GP4-RX offers better feedback and performance than the cast monoblock. OE R1 calipers are cast monoblocks. For the new SBU R1, we will likely go with a billet monoblock caliper, but they aren't cheap.

On a side note, we are doing a very nice promo on the 130mm GP4-RX calipers for 07-14 YZF-R1 applications.
