I have converted my 04 R1 to have all the goodies the 50th LE had (Ohlins Forks and shock & Dampner, Marchesini Wheels, Brembo calipers front and rear and a few other items). Let me know what you think?

What do I think...?

I think...

a) get better tires to compliment your suspension and brakes, Michelin/Bridgestone/Pirelli are the best...

b) use said tires and suspension to wear the chicken-strips of whatever set of tires you have...

c) paint the lowers the factory red to match, and cut those cans down 3"...

Nice bike, but it's no LE (the # makes it "special")... Closer than an SE, but hey... Very nice bike...!

:rock

*pssst... we see you...! lol

Thanks for the input. The tires are new, maybe 50 miles on them. I feel they are good as I can put a knee down without any problems. I know its not a true 50th, I just was always in admiration to all the extras that really made the 50th look impressive. I have thought about putting on all the plastics of the 50th but decided to keep it as is. The red and gold looks pretty good in my opinion. Why cut the cans down? I really don't want to do that yet as I have a MC turbo kit on my workbench that I have been chicken to install. Worried it might damage the engine? Thanks again.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :drunk:

Yeah ALL the top racers use them!!

Looks good mang. Get yourself a #1 number plate. Nice bike.

P.S. Don't do the turbo. More tuning and problems than it is worth. (especially on the street with an 11yr old daughter to think about)

Looks killer kill B, but you gotta lose those indicators!:chair:

I am still waiting to pull the trigger on the suspension and calipers to complete mine as well. 06 Raven

I said "closer to an SE" because you dont have the Anniversary plastics but have the Ohlins goodies & wheels, thats all. No disrespect...

How much did you pay for that MC-turbo kit...? Don't install it without some motor work (valve-springs & heavy-duty bearings, maybe some pistons too)...

And I suggested cutting the cans to improve the appearance of the tail, and it makes them abit louder I think...

My bad on your daughter... I shoulda known, with all your grey hair... LOL

:hammer: Just kiddin...! Again, nice bike bro...

Thanks, yeah I know about the turbo mods. It cost $5k and they told me this level kit is 210hp and that no mods were needed. I am skeptical about no mods needed? I used to own a 1980 Kaw ZR1 Turbo and I know that the Kaw sent the bike to RAYJAY to be modified (lower compression) before they were sent to the dealers. I bought the turbo to be more of a "one-off" type of bike. I really don't take to many chances on the street. My career over the years has offered way to many ways to end my life then on the street (see pic). I appreciate all your feedback.

This post couldn't have come at a better time! I have been scouring the net for pictures of a red R1 with gold hardware before I start buying visual goodies for mine. This confirms my thoughts of sexiness. Great looking bike!
