Ok people
Ok my friend had the same bike as me an 08 r1
His Shogun Sliders didnt hold up

I NEED ANY AND ALL PHOTOS OF 2006 and 2007 R1
CAGES AND RAILS

I know many companies make ones that require cutting
just send photos if you can

I've seen some of the Powerstunts Cages
How is the 905 cages?

metal cages transfer energy and don't absorb it. Great for very low speed crashes like many stunts, but if you go down with any speed at the track or on the street you risk transfering all that energy to the frame or where you attach it. there is a reason frame sliders are not made of solid steel...

When sliders don't hold up then it wasn't meant to be but they absorbed more energy then a metal rail would have...

Actually Most Metal Cages are usually made from High Grade Alum. NOT Steal.
Same material as frame sliders.
They BOTH absorb impact since they are made from similar Alum.
The Difference between something like Barrier bars or other Alum. cages have 2 or more mounting points to strengthen the crash system, and to Spread the impact over a larger arear.

The Frame sliders have all the impact in only one location so they do sometimes break. ALSO if you use Offset brackets to not have to cut, you weaken the system since the offset creates more leverage from the mtn. point. and almost always causes the sliders to break.

The railz talked about in this thread are of made of hot rolled steel tubing. Freestyle Enginuity is as well.

even alum doesn't absorb as much as delrin, plastic, etc as it won't shatter when it needs to, it doesn't grind off as easily either. having sliders break isn't a bad thing either as you want them to in some situations. It's the basics of physics. There are reasons most all track guys stay away from metal sliders.

i have a set of F.I race rails and they are garbage they dont fit tightly to the engine mounts nor do they fit in the engine mount themselves they mount flat to the outside of engine mount and do not include washers to fill up the gap between the race rails mounting point at the engine mount . in other words junk
