I was looking at a 2016 R1 the other night with 500 miles on it being sold by a private party and was contemplating possibly getting it. He let me take it for a ride and it rode great but I have reservations about it.
I'm a very on the fence because the guy seems like he's unusually anxious to get rid of the bike, plus he doesn't have any of the stock parts (when I initially asked him in text about the bike, i specifically asked about the stock parts and he said yes that he had them) so I'm now leaning towards not getting it. I'd also have to go back to a stock tail-light assembly since my state doesn't allow integrated tail-lights unless you have them in conjunction with separate rear blinkers and he doesn't have the original tail light, fender assembly or blinkers.
I was thinking about it a bit last night and started pondering about the headlight thing. While looking at the bike running, I noticed at one point that only one of the headlights was on and didn't spike too much suspicion at the time until later on when I was driving home and I started thinking that I was fairly sure that Yamaha went away from that setup. My '12 R1 had both headlights on all the time both for high and low beam and used an internal shade\reflector to change the aim height of the lights.
So about those headlights... Does the 2015 and up R1 do the one-headlight on and one off thing or are they both supposed to be on?
