Okay , so firstly i would like to say i'm new to R1 forums , so hi everyone :hellobye
Have had 4 R'1s over the years '98,'00,'05 and my current '02 inj which i reckon could possibly be the best r1 made imo, handling is just so sweet and power delivery smooth as you like for road use.
Anyway , had the bike a couple of weeks now and have had really bad vibrations through the bars which is really annoying after 100 miles or more of riding.
So I had read a few threads of this forum regarding this subject and did some investigating with the info off here.
So I think it fair if I can give back a little to the forum.
In my case I had tried a few things, exhaust loose, exup valve, plugs, clutch etc but the solution to my bikes buzzing/vibrations (around 4000-5000rpm btw) is the engine mounts.
But simply tightening the mounts up won't solve the problem, you have to slacken all the engine mounts off, and that includes the two mount spacers at the rear, and then torque them up properly and in the correct order. The two spacers at the rear need a special tool (I made one by getting some 1/8" flat bar and grinding it down to fit in the slot, then welding it onto an old socket so I could use a standard torque wrench. The reason is the torque setting is 5ft/lb on the rear mounts/spacers , so it is easy to overtighten these two and deform the frame by not using a torque wrench.
Anyway , tightened all the engine bolts and the bike is completely different to ride, no buzz at all.
Hopefully anyone having similar issues might find this helpful ,
and i hope no one minds a newbie giving out info when he's just joined
