Still just a noobie here, but was wondering if anyone has ever had a car that could hang with their 1?
I occasionally get vettes or ricers that want to run, but nothing that ever posed a real threat. A friend here owns a Porsche, and he thinks his porsche will hang from stoplight to stoplight, but it's always in the shop so I never get a chance to prove him wrong.

I rolled an R6 against my Cobra and was dead even till the top of 2nd gear (85 mph). I missed 3rd gear which ended up saving the life of the guy on the bike because we were coming up on traffic that he wouldn't have been able to deal with.

I think in general a good car will take a bike from a stop to about 60 or so. I've driven cars that will flat out lay waist to a bike though...but they weren't street legal. 1.12 60' times etc..Also when you get to above 175 or so bikes will have trouble hooking up where a car will still have traction. Based on that I'd say the sweet spot for racing cars is a roll on between 50 and 150 if you want to take home the money.

I raced one on the highway a few years back on my Blackbird. We got slowed down in some traffic, and I was in a gear too high--just cruisin'. As soon as we got through it, he takes off and left me standing for a couple seconds, very surprising :) I caught him after that he and actually looked surprised....guess he didn't know much about sportbikes.

it surprises me how ignorant most people are...when i tell them my bike will pull about a 10 flat 1/4 mile stock they don't believe it...most people with nice cars know better than to mess with a bike. i've had a few vettes and a few different american muscle try to mess with me...not close. i had a turbo wrx try to run me...funny.

I have a Mustang that will trap about as fast as a stock R1 in the quarter. I dont take my bike to the drag strip so I couldnt say for sure what they would do side by side. Last time I took my car to the track was about 2 1/2 years ago and it trapped 131mph. Ive since dropped a few hundred pounds from the car and its making more power now so Im sure it would at least be a good race.

a good rider on stock 04-06 r1 will trap between 140-145. some are slower and some faster. there are some bad cars out there with tons of cash in them. mostly streetcars dont stand a chance, but there are many that will eat bike for lunch

that car is f'n sick bro, i raced one and i was only just pullin from him, you should have herd this turbo spool up though, like a jet:eek: , but he has alot of $$$ spent on it. I love that car too.
Only other who came close, but this thing took off like a missile was a GT3 porche, my god did this thing launch, i shit my self. I started catching him slowly once i hit second, then third, and i only just past him after third gear. This thing had a role cage and all, 4WD, took off like you would not believe:scared

are you saying that from 0~60 that a car can take a bike?? :dunno

NO WAY!! just look at the numbers...bikes are capable of sub 3 second 0~60 times...whereas a car is doing good to make 4 second 0~60 times :fact

Corvette Z06 = 3.9sec
Ferrari Enzo = 3.3sec
Viper = 4.0
Jamie James R1 = 2.7sec
typical liter bike = 2.8~2.9sec
:fact

I got my clock cleaned by my friends Camaro..I have ran a low 10's, at 140 on the R1..

Now about the Camaro.. 67 with a twin turbo 540ci.. It is a legit 8.60 street car he drives everywhere. It was in Car Craft a few months back with a 5 page spread. The car is absolutley insane..

He is a Turbo nut.. His old school GSXR 1100 runs mid 8's as well with him.. I ran 9.20's on it after my 3rd pass..

Turbos Rock ! :rock

thats pretty much exactly what I'm saying. The numbers you posted are from pros. You're looking at 99%+ of the bike/car population not having skills. Plus I said a good car. Not some stock pos production vehicle. My last drag car clicked the 60' lights with the back tires at 1.12 sec.

the last car I raced with my bike was an 8.90 car. I had a 10.06 dial. The guy caught me at the 300' mark and re ran it out the back side by side. He said to me after that he was totally not ready for my bike to move on the top like that. I trapped at 145.

I've also raced a blown altered against my busa...that guy went by me with 40 mph on the big end, what a sight that was...chutes out and all.

Cars are IMO, way easier to drive. Shoot with an automatic trans I can drink a cup of coffee on an 11 sec run...ok, I'll only get one sip and half will be on my lap...but thats a different topic.

I'm basing this on my experience, not on what I read some where. My Cobra is a high 11 sec car at best. I've never run it though so thats speculation. An R6 should easily lay waist to it (Low to mid 10's I think). But the guy riding wasn't skilled enough. He was 100% aware that we were gonna roll too so it wasn't a surprise to him. It was his idea.

There's quite a few guys out here with cars that will kill bikes. Vipers, Vettes, Supras, you name it. A few will race bikes and bikes only, drag strip or highway they don't care; they can stomp a bike either way. Then again there's a ton of guys out here with some bad bikes too that will stomp those cars.

In '99 I had a friend that had a 600 Bandit (among other bikes) but he loved that one because it was stock and he beat many 600's on it out of the hole. It does make a lot of difference whether someone launches it well or not. Me on the other hand, I don't usually run it from a stand still, I usually get people on the highway that want to run me, when we're already doing 70+.

Mustang guys are always overly macho. Just compensating for something lacking in the pant area.

Girls in mustangs though....HOT
I know some fly girls who roll mustangs...

A mustang is a girls car. Funniest thing is when I see a guy driving a Convertable Mustang. haha...ghey

On the street no. Never.

But at the track I have had the living shit beat out of me. I got stuck in the Super Pro class a couple of times and can't begin to explain just how amazing it is to be passed by a car on its back wheels.

Often times, you'll be lined up, and the car will be so loud and powerful you can't even hear or feel your bike running. Some huge big block beating off of the rev limiter with open headers. You do your best to launch, and you are looking in your mirror as he sits there waiting for the green light. Next thing you know you see and feel him rapidly approaching, until an earthquake of power blows past you like you were sitting still.

I have also been beaten by snowmobiles. Which is another story entirely.

The above is running 10.40's on my R1 by the way.

point taken...I guess I was basing my opinion on a stock vs stock comparison. a stock liter bike vs ANY stock car...and the car doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell!:no

I havent raced many cars but when I do it is always the mustang guys that wanna race. It seems they think thier cars are fast hehehe Stock Mustang=slow ford=crap Just my opinion:)
So you think the stock 03 04 cobra is slow? Show me another mass produced car that can run 12's with the a/c & radio on but still costs under $40K. If you want to start talking about modded cars, a kenne belle'd nitrous cobra easily tops 700rwhp and has a torque curve flat enough to serve breakfast on. If turbo's are your thing (as was mentioned earlier) hellion tubo makes a twin hairdryer setup for the terminator that can make in excess of 1000 horsepower on the stock forged shortblock.

We're all entitled to our opinions...there just happens to be a wide gap between what you think is true and what I know to be true.

oh gawd another video testimonial

hey in the first video the supra pulled the guy. Nice job thats a feat for sure no matter how you cut it.

In the second video (one of the bikes I have rode and been offered another) the red celica looks like it was in the busa's lane on the top end....wtf? Looks like he smoked it too.

still all this video stuff is hard for people to get a good feeling on what happens. If I stand at the back of a Hospital and film dead bodies going to the morgue I could submit that every one I saw coming out of the door was dead and the hospital was no good. Ask Michael Moore.

I know when Kerry and Nick started filming all that stuff they went to great length to make it equal out for all parties.
