Just purchased a 2023 R1M and I'm trying to decide between a full Arrow or full Akrapovic, I know I will get a little more hp from the Akro but the Arrow sounds amazing......what do you guys think?

Both are quality exhaust. For my preference, i prefer a bit of muffling to tone down exhaust note. The can setup is too loud for me. I went with the Akrapovic Evolution GP Exhaust. Very satisfied with quality and noise. I believe arrow has both can and muffler setup too. Cant go wrong with either! Just go with your preference!

Akrapovic is in fashion these days, especially since Audi/VW bought the company. Those who have been riding for a few years will know that Akra wasn't always the best. It was a middle grade exhaust company that was often passed up for a Yoshi or Termi. But times have changed I guess, all of a sudden it is a $10K system on some Ducatis. Lol. Arrow has been around for many years and they make great systems for Triumph and other exotics such as MV Agusta F series bikes. Go for Arrow if you want quality. If you want raw sound, Austin Racing, SC project or any of those beer can exhausts will give you the loudest sound. Cheers.

I have the 3/4 Akro on my R1 and have bought the full system Arrow. It's a race bike so a full system makes sense, wouldn't do it for a road bike as the gains really don't justify the price.

Having said that, you can find an Arrow full system for a much better price than a Akro cause as some have mentioned Akrapovic became a fashion item it seems and charges a premium for it. It's especially cheap if you go for stainless steel headers instead of Titanium. I only got the Ti header version cause it was on sale for a very similar price of the SS otherwise I wouldn't have bothered as the weight difference between them is negligible.

They'll both put out similar hp numbers and if that's what you're chasing, I'd be more worried about getting a good tuner than choosing between those 2 brands.

a popularity contest...lol.

IMO I would ask this of myself.....how will I use the bike? Street only? Street and maybe some track days? Full time track?

If full track, then you would be committing to full exhaust (then Id go akra surely). Then ECU flash, tune, and everything else that will make you faster, no matter how incremental.
If all for street, or mainly street, realistically, all you are doing with exhaust is cosmetics. You wont be pulling out of a bend on a highway under full throttle lifting wheel up and driving out to outer edge on the exit.

I went through these decisions when started bikes 3 decades ago. Learned.
If mainly street, youre doing cosmetic changes most of the time, surely with exhaust. So I would go with a slip on, of if you like rowdiness, 3/4, leave headers on. I hear are pretty good out of the factory.
Then, can do a flash with tune (if sensors deleted). Then? After that, its really all for show. Except suspension maybe.
If you are one of those midget jockeys weighing 85 lbs, yeah, you can use stock suspension for street and even track days.
If you are a full boddied American rider, over 180/190Lbs, surprise, stock suspension probably not adequate for aggressive riding even in street.
O am over 200. Now have R1M, just got it. Will live with stock suspension, see how it feels on street (only place I will go ride now, done with track).
If need, may replace forks or internals (unlikely as it means more $$$ and messing with stock electronics).
I doubt I will push the bike hard enough to notice my setup inadequacies. then, I will be mostly sunday rider.

IMO, if street riding, save as much $$$ as you can, get something cheap (weight savings not a biggie for street), that looks & sounds great to you. Have your bike set up by good suspension person in area. they will advise you on options. Try live with what you have.
If you are going to the track to race, this is a whole different conversation. There. I spent 5 minutes too long on this forum now.
