I'm not that old, but once you have the true love for motorcyling and performance. It will never go away no matter how old you get. And I know alot of young'ens with super nice bikes too.

Boys, this was not meant to insult anyone. I was just surprised that there are older riders out there that still have the "adrenaline junkie" addiction. If you got the balls to ride the one, I commend you. By the way, what's everyone's age?

 

I was pumping gas today for my 99 cbr 600 f4 when a 01 r1 pulls up to the pump accross from mine. I gave him a little nod and he nods back. I'm thinking this guy must be hardcore because he's riding the ONE. Well, he takes off his $600 arai helmet and all I see are wrinkles and a bald head. DAMN!! This guy must have been like 48. This has always been puzzling to me: Why is it that only old dudes own cool bikes and cool cars. Any old dudes wanna comment.

How old are you? I'm coming 34 i don't know if its old or not. Same here most biker are in 20s and 28s, but most of us have cool and fast bike at the age of 30 and above.The main reason for that older have cool attitude i think. We alwayz wants ccol things ...................i think

Once you are a performance enthusiast, you will always be. Lookat Darryl Gwinn or Waine Rainey or David Bailey. Even tragic accidents have not quelled there desire for performance. On the Crest I am fairly well known, not always because of the bike I ride, how fast I am, or my personality, but in many cases because my 68 year old dad just spanked a bunch of kids on his 140 hp w95 ft. lbs. tourqe Suzuki Bandit. He can hustle that bike through the twisties as fast as any knee dragging "youngster" on any bike they want. Nowadays he won't haul it all the time, just through a few corners to get away from the fast approaching hang it out there riders, and also to humble them a little. He spends quite a few days in his 450 hp. 1985 Vette as well.

My hope is that I am doing the very same thing when I am his age.

 

There are plenty of young bucks on here with the badest bike known to man (r-1). I'd say your theory more applies to cars. I worked as a valet when I was in college, and I saw a million and one bad ass cars (vettes, vipers, ferraris, etc) driven by old geezers. Sucks that by the time you can afford something like that, you are too damn old to REALLY ENJOY it.

I guess the answer could be that although we get older we never want to feel like we are. I'll be 37 next month...but i still feel like i did when i was in my 20's. Just got my new 03 R1, and just like it was said earlier...i can afford it (paid cash 10,500).

Plus...we get a lot more cool points when you see an older guy with a 20 something year old babe hangin on to us :boobies
