I have just cained the full tank (for the very first time) after 60 miles on my '99 R1 but then I have been spanking it about. Is this normal? and do you guys get similar results on 1999 R1's?

Same here. I have a 99 and get about 120-130 before the light goes on..

I usually get between 250 KM (150-160 miles) before my fuel light comes on. I've done about 35-40 KM (20 miles) on top of that with the light on.

 

Yeah I get good mileage, not sure why. Even when I run it real hard for extended periods of time like when I am up in the mtns I get about 150. but I usually end up running it about 15 miles after the light comes on.

 

255 miles has been the furthest I have been on one tank before the fuel light came on, 2005 bike and I was still running it in. trip was from Perth in Scotland to Newcastle in England. The light came on as I rolled off the ferry in Amsterdam. I was averaging about 56mpg (imperial gallon )

 

I have an 04, lightly modded, usually fill up around 230 miles going back and forth to work, I can get about 250 on the freeway. Even canyon riding I can get 200 miles.

 

i got the 98.. after playing with my carbs.. i now get 150 - 160 before the light comes on

 

Wow......I don't think I ever did better than 150 miles on a full tank, and I prob average around 125.....too many wheelies? Or is it because I'm 6'4" and 240lbs with wide shoulders that stick out aerodynamically like a barn door?

'06 here, completely stock engine I usually get between 115 and 125 before the light comes on. Most I've had when I was still breaking it in was 150 I think. :riding

I have a 99 R1 and I get between 140-150 miles before the light comes on. Don't know why you are getting such low miles. Even if I ride hard at the track, I get better miles than you. You might need to get your carb clean and readjusted.

'00 R1 re-jetted (runs really "fat") w/factory pro velocity stacks & BMC race filter - 130 miles when light comes on.

 

Taking it easy, I get 230 kms before the light comes on. Can then do another 58kms before she dies.

 

I'm lucky to get 115 before the friendly little orange light comes on. Aside from keeping a light throttle hand, are there any cheap mods to get bnetter milage? different gas maybe? (use super now)

 

05 & I get about 90 miles until the light.
103 was the most I've gotten before the light.

also I always make sure to get the tank as full as I can.
