Big credit to ocravenr1. This is a continuation/how-to for CCFL angel eyes with pictures.

-----START-----

DISASSEMBLY:
-Take headlights off of bike
-Pry headlights apart by cooking them 7 minutes at 250 degrees (take bulbs/caps off) and pulling apart at base where the polyurethane is.

LOW BEAM:
-Place 1st CCFL ring onto projector with the wires running to the back of the headlight. I positioned the ring so that the gap on the ring where the wires are, are right between the uppermost screw on the projector.
-Put a dab of silicone between the projector and ring where all 3 screws on the projector are...let dry till stiff (~15 minutes)

HIGH BEAM:
-Slide wiring and connector through outermost bottom gap between the reflector and housing (the biggest gap in the corner)
-Start pulling the wiring around the outside of the reflector so that the wiring will be at the top of the reflector (it will fit snug)
-Pull the wiring and ring inward and gently press the 2 ends where the wire comes out of the ring between the reflector and housing (make sure the ring is centered and BE CAREFUL...they are FRAGILE)
-The ring should be sitting tightly and not be able to move, so all I did was silicone the bottom of the ring where it was touching the reflector.

RE-ASSEMBLY:
-Put cover back onto headlight and press together gently.
-Put each headlight back into over for 7 minutes at 250 degrees
-When hot, press together both parts of the headlight till the clips are in place.
-Run both of the wires out of the high beam hole and into an inverter where you can mount wherever you wish.
-Connect to power and voila...CCFL angel eyes.

*Each ring will come with it's own switch and inverter box, but if you open the inverter, you will find an extra empty spot to plug another light in to the circuit board, so you will only need 2 total inverters for 4 lights, and you can save the other 2 inverters if one ever fails*

-----END-----

Images: (Taken at night in my shed in complete darkness. Camera was pretty crappy and didn't really capture the color too well. Not to mention that I havent cleaned the headlights since putting away the bike...They are A LOT brighter in person)

looks bad azz man wish I would have gone that route instead of cleggs, I like them but not as much as those

Thanks. I will try to get more pics soon of the entire bike, both sides. The good thing about cold cathode lights is that they are glass so they will never melt from the heat of the bulbs. Not to mention, for less than 1/5th the price of Cleggs, I couldn't resist. So far I *think* only me and "ocravenr1" have done this with the CCFL rings. I put a link to his original post at the top of this thread. He was the 1st one to do this and his are red.

I just got mIne yesterday and installed them into the lights. The only thing is my light are in the city and the bike is upstate, so I can't see them on until next weekend. I got the red, and reading the above post I'm kinda scared.

Great write up, thanks for the info. Can't beat $20 angel eyes that are glass. Unless they are pink, we'll see.

Durability-wise...I mounted them with flexible silicone so there is no direct contact between the glass and anything hard enough to break them. Regarding the red being pink, I've personally never seen the red but that's the color ocravenr1 installed on his. I've attatched a photo of his lights from his post. One thing to note is that he has a smoked cover on his headlights which might make them look more red.

If mine look anything like his, I'll be happy. Guess I'll just have to wait a week and see. Unless I can find a motorcycle battery to use.

Are you running a 4amp fuse? I read that somewhere and can't remember right now. Also, do you think I'll blow the lights if I test them on a car battery?

Ccfl 02

I did this a while back on my 02... I just couldn't get good pictures.
I actually got one inside of my tach...looks soooo nice.

Advise I can give is: buy plenty cause the colors don't always match and some are brighter than others. I broke about 4 of these trying to squeeze into the tach, but it eventually worked nicely.

That looks sick. I was thinking of doing this to my 02 but didnt know how it would look. What size rings did you buy and how did you get that outer ring to look like that?

Well, I did hook it up to my car battery using a 7.5amp fuse. They do look pinkish, more pink then red. I may have to find out how he tinted his lights because I'm not happy with the color. At least it was only a waste of $20. The only thing is I really don't want to tear the thing back apart to redo it with another color, especially because I used quite a bit of epoxy because I have a tendency to wheelie.

Does anyone know what ocraven used to tint his lights?

Just ordered dark sc clear bra headlight tint. Guess I'll just have to wait for it to come in to see if it helps. If not, I think I'll just have to keep the ccfl light off and leave them inside the headlights.

By the way, the power box it comes with does fit inside the headlight housing behind the lowbeam. It does take a little cohersion, but it does fit and you can get it out. This way you just have the red and black wire coming out of the light instead of the 4 white wires and box for each headlight.

nice write up maximus :thumbup
and regarding the red rings looking pink, it varies on the company, from what I hear... I posted the company that makes the ones I put on in the first post (logisys) and they are RED not pink... good luck

yeah id like to see some more pics too.
looks sweeeeet though.

Sure, I should have more pics on either Tuesday or Wednesday. It's freezing rain here tonight and tommorow so I won't be able to get the bike out. Also, I don't have stock headlights (I have 6000K HID's) so I can take a picture with the headlights on, but I just want to let you know that it will look different than stock. The CCFL lights are still bright in the daytime, even with the lights on too.

BTW, if you are looking for RED, buy the Logisys 80mm fan. Apparently some of the brand's red CCFL rings looks more pinkish, but to give you a great comparison, look at ocravenr1's lights for Logisys, and the attached image for a comparison.

hi guys, sorry for the dumb questions but what r these lights used for generally (I.T stuff?) and how are they fixed to those fans? are the rings easy to remove from the fan and place on the bike?
