DIY/How to guide: Factory Pro Stack Install on a 2006 R1. This guide could also be used for Graves Velocity Stacks as well.

1. Remove seat by removing the two bolts

When your done it should look something like this

When they are all installed they should look like this

thanks.

nice clean bike!
I clean it at least twice a week or every time before I ride, unfortunately I just lowsided two weeks ago, ground was cold, front tire slid about twleve fit and went down, sucks

great write-up and pics, sure to help someone out.
thanks.

dang the factory pros are nice. i went with the graves due to the price.
ya i love them, solved the low to mid end throttle lag but cant wait to upgrade to an 08 with the chip controlled intake tubes

Yep....nice write up! I run the Factory Pro's as well. Definitely a nice product. I like the extra intake noise as well;)
yea they add a little more grunt, I'm going to do the smogs as well

Alot of people change gearing to accommodate the low end lag issues, I think this is a better solution because you can keep your top end (I ride to class on the highway)

You'll get the push you need after you install these, trust me, night and day difference.

Great write up! Much appreciated.

I have a question though concerning the fitment of the tubing into the mounting bracket. Does the bracket just sit on the top rings of the tube, and hold it in place....or, does the bracket need to be semi-forced over the several threads on the tube?

The bracket from what I can recall sits on top of the tubing, there is a rounded edge on the tube and a cutout in the bracket to show you where the bracket should sit on the tubing, also on top ring of the tubing they are completely rounded except where they are supposed to touch, where they touch is flattened to provide a smooth connection

Ok step 10. Here's what he says
(10. Install the new stacks: An easy way to install these would be by assembling the lower bracket and tubing first, then lowering the stack into place.)
Very confusing?? Tubing?? What tubing?? I see to brackets and then the stacks themselves. I see a set of these for sale on eBay and am considering getting them they are the factory pro. The pics show the 4 stacks 6 bolts and 2 mounting brackets. This dyi install has me wondering if there is something missing being he says to assemble the bracket and tubing first. ???? Can anyone shed some light on this tubing he is referring too??

Ok cool just thought there was some tubes or something missing being it mentioned tubes in the dyi. Are these factory pro stacks available anywhere new?? Isn't 225 bucks high for a set of these used?

That link won't work for me. Have you tried the factory pro stacks?? Or graves?? I wonder which set makes the best overall improvement? I will be installing a full arrow exhaust this winter along with block off plates, a power commander 3, ivans performance ecu flash and possibly stacks if they really perform as well as the thread I just read says they do. One guy claimed like 9 hp gain in midrange but I would love to hear others results to graves or factory pro v stacks on their 04/06 r1
