Indexing Holes on Clip Ons - How Necessary are They?

I'm looking at getting a set of clip ons for my 08, and I'm leaning towards Heli bars. I had Heli bars on my old R1 and absolutely loved them. The workmanship was top notch and they fit perfectly.

However, there are more options now as far as aftermarket clip ons that raise them up a bit to give more comfort. But it looks like the only ones that are pre-drilled are the Heli bars. I'm assuming with the others, either you drill the holes or cout off the small pins in the control housings. If you go with the latter, is there a possibility that the housings might shift, or are they on there pretty good?

I know that some of the competition ofers more adjustability, but when I had the Heli bars on my old bike, they were adjusted just right, right out of the box.

Thanks,
MG

if the pinch bolts don't hold it tight enoug hthe easiest way to keep it from moving it just wrapping electrical tape around the bar to make it a bit more grippy and it will enlarge the bar diameter. Works like a charm. You can drill them if you want though. People have done it for years and years and you won't hurt the structure of the bar by that small of a hole. Just easier to take the first route though.
