As the title states what type of insurance do you guys have on your bikes? Full Coverage or just Comprehensive? If full coverage how much monthly are you paying and for what year/model bike?

I got quoted $323/month for my 14 R1 through Dairyland (full coverage)

Don't even consider anything but full coverage! :fact

Check out State Farm if you are having problems with high quotes.

Lol easy to say for you guys... gov't run insurance here (only option, they don't allow private insurers)

$270 a month (yes, a month) for liability on an 07.
$370 if I want full coverage :/

Oh, for the record, I'm 39 in May, married and have never had an accident.

$195 2013 R1 full comprehensive & collision + theft with USAA. I also have the same coverage on my wife's Ducati monster 696 for $100 with USAA. USAA does not insure you unless you have had your class CM1 for at least five years though.

I'm paying about $36/year on an 07 R1. Of course, this is on a track only bike so I have only comprehensive coverage.

Man i don't get how some would think close to a hundred dollars a month is a good thing!. If the bike is paid off, why in hell would anybody pay for another one in a few years worth of insurance if you didn't have to!. That's crazy.I have PLPD from progressive and it is $95.00 a year. And that's all they are getting for something I can only ride 8monthes a year.! WTF. They quoted me $2,000 a year for full coverage!!

To the OP, what state are you in? That seems to be the biggest factor in insurance prices as far as I can tell. I'm in MI and we get fvcked with insurance because it's no fault. Car and mc insurance rates are terrible, even when you get a little older and have a fairly clean driving record.

You forgot age Shawn.. Age affects rate.

Not all of us are 30-40yr olds, they still rape the kids in their 20's. $80/mo for me is still too high, but after hearing what other people pay I just accept it.

Thanks, I added age. Knew I was forgetting something. Price to pay for getting older I guess. :crash

Hey fjorn, can you give me some details on working with an agent to get a better rate? I'm use to the call up progressive, state farm or whoever, get the quote and pay whoever with a better price. The only part they can adjust my rate is amount of coverage. I'm trying to understand what you did to get a better rate with your agent. Thanks

If you're riding on the street, you're more or less stuck with just paying what they charge. The variables will be deductible, and if you combine other vehicles with your motorcycle coverage. That is about it. Sometimes, if you have a very good relationship with your agent, they will do what they can to work numbers. Also, if you have a loan, you are stuck with their requirements.

In my case, I do not ride the street as I am track only. So I don't need collision and other state requirements. I called my agent and explained to him this is to be treated no different than a dirt bike or ATV and I want the same type of policy. He had to call corporate and figure out what to do as their system kept saying it needed collision for street. But, he got it done and I'm paying comprehensive only due to the bike's use.

They wanted $4,500 a year for full coverage for my 07 r1 paid for and it was only $380 a year for liability sooo I couldn't afford another rent payment and had to go cheap. Besides you can rebuild these things pretty cheap off ebay.

Im starting to think its because im in GA with all this damn traffic and high accident rate. So that's probably why it costs so much. Im divorced and I believe if I put that the cost goes up. I think single would be a better option for me. Next step is to talk to my state farm agent which have all of my cars, house insurance and life insurance. Im sure I will get a good discount but Im still thinking it will be atleats $200/month.
