i went with sprocket specialist and rk gxw chain. decided on 16/46 gearing after a lot of searching and reading up on old posts.

i run 16/46 in 520, see sig on my R1, big guy myself and i personally love it. thought about getting a 47T rear but not sure. also thought of the +3 rear and go back to 17 up front but don't want to shorten the wheelbase with a +3 rear. -1/+1 is just right in my opinion. but i don't ride alot, more recreational than commuter vehicle

I think the -1/+1 is the best... you really dont loose any top speed either.. Ive corrected my speedo,, now reads slower than other stock bikes... And it will still hit 180-181,,, but you are on the verge of rev limit. but it really dont have the power to go any faster either... so you are actually taking full use of the bikes power and rpm, with that gearing...

is your bike pretty much stock?

By going to -1/+1 I would think that you would get more power but your RPM's would be alot higher running down the highway? If I am incorrect please advise. Currently I run just under 7k running 100 MPH where does this put you when you make that sprocket change??

on the highway at about 80-85mph non corrected i am sitting at like 6-6500rpm. i have no speedo healer as i tend to speed and thus having my speedo off keeps me in check. speedo is only off by like 7-10mph as i have paced some of the guys i ride with and checked their speedo's, obviously on non-regeared bikes. R6's, R1, cbr 1k

Ok...Sounds like -1/+1 seems to be the prefered path. I was going to go -1/+2, but now I'm revising my descision. My question to you guys is, do I absolutely need to get a chain as well? I have an 07 R1 with about 3000 miles. I keep the chain well lube and visually it's all good. Any advice...
if you stay with a 530 chain like the stock setup you should be okay i would think. might shorten the wheelbase a tad bit. but if you go to a 520 conversion like did a new chain is a must. i ride with a guy who has a R1 with 17/48 in 520 conversion. the +3 is equal to -1 up front. he likes it. but i like my -1/+1 setup, all preference really. i hear the -1/+2 setup is pretty quick for acceleration, i might buy a rear sprocket and try it out, but i am content with my setup now.

I did -1 +1 with did 530 chain and Im 180lbs , 5'10. Main reason for the 530 is that i like to clutch my wheelies and dont need the I wonder if my chain is going to snap thought running around. Honestly many members run the 520 with no problems so really its a personal choice.
I just need to remember how to adjust my speedo healer. LOL.
