Had just gotten back from being in California for two weeks on Thursday night. Saturday was a beautiful day, so I took the bike out to get some seat time in.. Stopped by my local Yamaha dealership for a while, then headed to my buddys honda/kawi/suzuki dealership to say whats up. As I was inside bullshitting with him, I heard another salesman outside screaming "whoa whoa whoa".. Of course I get up to see what's going on, and I notice a Honda CRV in the same place where I had parked my 09 R1. I yelled some obscene gesture something along the lines of "Are you ****ing shitting me?". Ran outside and proceeded to yell a few more profanaities. An old indian guy had backed into my bike and knocked it over. Apparently he tried to continue on as if he didn't know he had just knocked over a motorcycle.
Damage was fairly minimal. My helmet was on my left mirror, and he backed into the tail section of the bike, causing the kickstand to fold, and fall over on the left side. The helmet took the blow, and prevented a lot of the damage to the front of the bike, and the bike itself. Overall the damage was a scratched mid, bent clutch lever, a little scratch on the panel above the mid, scratched engine case cover, scratched rider and passanger pegs, scratched tail section, and a small scratch on the swing arm..and of course some scratches on my newer Suomy Vandal Cult helmet..Kinda wish I was wearing my X-11 so I could pick up a new one, but oh well. I immediately filed a claim with his insurance company on the scene. They called me today to verify some info and explain what happened again. They said they are just waiting to talk to him to confirm this, and then we can move on.
I'm mad that this happened, and that my brand new bike has touched the pavement..but should work out in the end. I should have some money in pocket after the whole ordeal is done, since I plan on fixing everything myself.
No pictures yet, just venting.
