Not sold....:(

This is my project I started in April of 2010. I wanted to build a custom R1 that was still streetable but I didn't just want it to be a rolling bolt-on parts catalog. Here is what came out of it...

My parts list:

Sprocket Specialists rear sprocket +2 teeth
Aluminum key less gas cap
Aluminum grips
Lightech top clamp nut

Smog block off plates
Lust Racing rear sets w/GP shift
Roaring Toyz fork caps
HEL Stainless braided brake lines
EBC HH sintered brake pads
Gilles Tooling KTS chain adjuster
STM SR 24 shorty levers
Pro Boltz Fairing D-ring Dzeus fastener kit and aluminum engine bolt kit
Lightech rear axle nut
Lightech stand spools
Frame plugs

Rear night vision camera w/3.5" monitor
Bazzaz Racing ZFi ECU tuner w/Z-AFM Self tuning unit

Pipercross Air Filter
Custom RFID reader start unit (keyless)

-Fork top clamp and mid clamp powdercoated black by Powdercoat Jim
-Headers and exhaust powdercoated high temp black by Powdercoat Jim
-Fairings and windscreen painted by TKCustoms
-All aluminum (including fork tubes) re-anodized same color gold/black by Pilkington Metal Coatings

Work done by me:

-Customized headlights
-Customized Taillight
-Cut fairing "vents"
-Made rear camera monitor mount
-Made rear brake fluid reservoir bracket
-Modified rearsets for GP shift
-Fiberglassed stock rear fairing to get rid of undertail exhaust holes
-Painted clutch cover and cable cover
-Painted brake fluid reservoir caps
-Fabricated custom side exhaust
-Wrapped headers and exhaust with black exhaust wrap
-Made custom tank/side grip pad
-Fiberglassed side panels
-Wired in headlight switch, auxiliary LED/angel eye light switch, radiator fan switch, rear camera switch
-Converted Cat eyes to blinkers
-Wired LED lights
-Rubber coated rear shock black/white
-Painted front brake caliper accents
-Modified fork top clamp to get rid of key ignition hole
-Installed LED ring start button
-Wired in RFID reader in place of key ignition start

I estimated I put about 300 hours into this build. I hope you all appreciate my hard work, sweat, and blood that went into building her.

Really great work jrocker. Attention to detail to the extreme. As a lifelong artist I've got a couple of things you would be interested in adding to her for sure and you can do all the work. I hand make a lot of stuff myself still keeping my rides track worthy. Not that yours is not or mine are better. Just thought from one artist to another we could share some ideas. Your suggestion made me think you might not be far. And I'd love to check it out in person.

Just payed attention and realized we have the same year. One mod I'm proud of and I did my first set 10 years ago are my body screens, both side and lower radiator/ faring intake. I've seen some companies copying since. Not saying they copied me but, 10 years ago. Anyway, Yamaha's famous for gypping us on the OEM bodywork. Hence my painted windscreens and faring work. I use the Colorrite paint and go from the backside for a very cool clear over look, and the color is perfect. I hate to admit the faring screen's are gutter guard ( I'd love to find something nicer but so far no luck. Aprilias material is beautiful but I wasn't able to buy blank sheets of it from them and they were no help in finding it. ) I painted the R1's and the Aprilia's with heat resistant black and gold used for header's etc... and I could see some in gold on this ride of yours.

Its definitely loud. I love it. I put about $5000 total in parts and supplies (that's including paint and powdercoat). I estimated though with about 300 hours into the bike, at $80 an hour (average price at a custom shop), it would have cost me about $24,000 to have someone else build it.

jrocker, Dude, Still on the 'A' list here. I knew we had a star. After our talking about mods I saw your lower vents already have a screen. Of the same minds for sure. When you get home, definitely we'll get together. A couple of minor all but expensive things to do to mine yet, but that troll up to Frederick is always a test run for me. Just up to the first exists off 70 then a turn around and you can see the stretches where the troopers sit, far off enough to be cautionary. A couple of stretches long enough to easily hit wide open
Thanks man. Yeah 70 and 270 are usually littered with police. I have only topped my bike out a couple times, just to see what she is made of and it was scary. Definitely don't make a habit of it.

WoW, That is fvcking incredible. That bikes makes every other "custom" 07 08 R1 look like childs-play compared to what you have done right there. Anyone can buy a set of Ohlins forks or some custom rims and say they've built a "custom" R1, but all the custom mods and detail that went into that thing..... Wow

BOTM Candidate for sure:fact
Thanks for the kind comments. :blush
