So far I think I have learned that the shift lever is GP style... However, I don't know where to attach it.

it should install like any other rearset. it shouldnt be gp unless you already had it that way. heres an install video of the driven rear sets. the left side is in the beginning of the video like 3 minutes in. this should give you some idea of what your doing, cause i have a feeling you just got turned around somewhere with the shift rod. hope this helps.

Yeah that video should be everything you need. Makes it really simple. It really is simple, I just think you got turned around somewhere as well :thumbup I'll look at pictures in a few minutes.

That set does not have a third large peg on a bearing like mine does.. I can't have this assembled correctly.

take that longer peg off. then replace it with the peg that has the shifter. see if that works real quick

I'm not sure it was 5mm I'm assuming that you would measure what you need to cut off to make it sit flush... Measure twice, cut once :thumbup

If you can tell me what the third mystery peg attaches to the bike I think I have the rest.. I had foot peg set on and tried putting shift lever but could not figure it out.

The lever shows to face the opposite direction than stock..

 

If I put the lever there as your pic shows... it will just freely spin on that bearing
