I definitely know I will be buying a suit in the near future as soon as I can set aside enough $ to make a purchase, and would like to get myself some boots at the same time also. I am a little perplexed as to whether to get myself a 1-pc or 2-pc suit though.

I am leaning heavily toward a 2-pc as it will be my only suit, and if I have the ability to, I will most likely wear just the jacket for casual commuting where with a 1-pc I would feel like its a bit out of place for a 10 minute ride to work and would just toss on the jacket.

For a first full suit, is it more economical and practical to get a 2-pc so a rider can use just the jacket in situations where someone wouldn't normally wear a full suit?

As far as specific suites.... I'm working in the $500-$600 range not including boots. Cortech Latigo in either one or two piece seems like a good option. Plus the 2-pc is $50 cheaper, and doesn't have a speed hump... So I don't feel like a total tool-bag on the highway.

Joe Rocket also has their SpeedMaster 5.0 and 6.0.... 2-pc and 1-pc respectively.

I'm sure there are a few other brands out there at this price point that I have overlooked.... and suggestions or verdicts? All black with minimal graphics is always a plus.

Each has it's advantages. The two piece is easier to get on and off, and gives the option of wearing just the jacket, and you can pull the jacket off when parked to cool off.The one piece as less bulky around the waist. Is a bitch to get in and out of when sweaty even with the under suit (That is a must). So I would say for street riding I would go with the two piece. for track I would go with the one piece.

I use a 2pc Alpine Stars with compression pants underneath. Love the suit. I got the 2pc so when I stop to eat, I can gear down so to speak. I have never ridin with just the jacket from the suit, I use a Icon Burner jacket for that.

My buddy just got the JoeRocket u r speaking of. He likes it. You will probably be happy with any brand name suit, just make sure it fits right!

In regards of a 1-pc being a pain in the dick to put on and take off I'm leaning even more toward a 2-pc. I may do track days down the road but I just want as much safety and convenience as I can squeeze out of one suit. I think a Cortech is my future, along with their boots and gloves.

AStars is a tad out of my price range unless I could find something in my size in all black on closeout. Not holding my breath on that.

I winder if Cortech takes aftermarket back protectors? Ive seen a few reviews and no mention of it.

I also debated getting a 1pc or a 2pc. My bike is my only form of transportation, so I figured it would be better to get a 2piece so when I go into stores I don't look like a super hero. One day I took my jacket off and walked into a gas station. Come out 1 minute later and my jacket was gone. Now I just un zip my 1pc and wrap the arms around my waste. Plus I found the 1 pc to be easier to take on and off. If you think about it 1pc is easier to take on and off then 2 pieces. Does for me anyways.

Keep in mind that some 2pc suits are designed as two individual pieces that can be worn independently, with a zipper to link them together; and some are designed to only be worn together. On those suits the pants come up very high and the jacket is very short so you'd look like you were wearing your girlfriends jacket if you tried to wear it by itself. Make sure the 2pc you're looking at is two standalone pieces.
