so its going into diagnostic mode when you turn the key on?

 

Sorry about my grammars..its a bit rusted since i only use other language in my country..Here is the problem - I start the bike and it cranks for 3seconds than the entire display unit goes dead for 3seconds,display unit turns back on by itself and continue to cranks for about 5second before the engine start....

 

Maybe a screwed ECU? :dunno

 

My mechanics checked the ECU and its fine....

I still have the same problem, mechanic says that this is normal. I just live with this one until something will go tits up completely.

They said that bike need to set pistons in positions in order to start because of cross plane crank. I personally think that the starter motor stalls...

I doubt its the starter motor.....I mine only happens during refueling....I have mail yamaha about it...so far they haven't got back to me...

 

Mine does it all the time, keep us informed once you hear anything back.

It's a normal thing, and usually caused by a low/bad battery. What I think is happening is that the starter is drawing so much juice from the battery that it starves the other things of power until the cluster/ECU finally give up. When this happens the starter stops drawing power, the cluster/ECU come back to life, and the starter will continue to go.

I've had this problem on every motorcycle I've owned. Nature of the beast.

 

But i have swap two new battery.It was fine for 2 weeks,than the problem reappears.My mechanics checked the starter motor,ECU,CDI and all turn out to be fine.....

 

bad battery is my guess, the one I just got had bad battery, jumped and still wouldn't start, just crank over. I think the ecu/ignition is very picky about voltage. Anyway, new battery, $153 (ouch!), and it started right up and no more problems.

Charging is also check out fine because i still can start the bike when i leave it for 1 week in the garage....There is no leakage of power on the bike...I have a hayabusa and Er6-f too but these bikes don't have these odd symptoms....

 

I have a 09 R1, I'm in the service and I had my Bike ship out here to Bahrain once It go here the batt was dead. I charge it and it was fine for 2 weeks, I was riding the other day shut it off and it will not start back up. I just get the clicking noise, so I charge it again and was fine but it did the same thing at my friends home after riding for a while. I never had this problem with my GSR-X 1000. Does anyone knows why this is happening? Any help would be great.

It happen again last week....but i still cant find the source of it....
Now CCT is having problem...

 

sounds like a rash of bad batteries out there. luckily ive never had any trouble with mine

 

bad volt regulator. eating up your new batteries..

 

this issue happens to me exactly as the boys up says from bad battery. check it out.
