I'm having problem with my R1 and my mechanics can't seem to resolve this issue. The problem i'm facing now is that when put in the key and switch on, electronic self diagnose than i switch one the kill switch(red switch) and start. It cranks for the first two cranks then the whole electronic displays goes dead for 2seconds then it switch back on and continue to crank about 5seconds till the engine starts firing. It happens quiet often,i have swapped the battery for new battery and my mechanic did a complete inspection on the bike and found nothing but this happens quite often. My millage is less than 7k......need help

See the below

I still have the same problem, mechanic says that this is normal. I just live with this one until something will go tits up completely.

They said that bike need to set pistons in positions in order to start because of cross plane crank. I personally think that the starter motor stalls...

Hope it helps

Mine does it all the time, keep us informed once you hear anything back.

Thanks

It's a normal thing, and usually caused by a low/bad battery. What I think is happening is that the starter is drawing so much juice from the battery that it starves the other things of power until the cluster/ECU finally give up. When this happens the starter stops drawing power, the cluster/ECU come back to life, and the starter will continue to go.

I've had this problem on every motorcycle I've owned. Nature of the beast.

I have a 09 R1, I'm in the service and I had my Bike ship out here to Bahrain once It go here the batt was dead. I charge it and it was fine for 2 weeks, I was riding the other day shut it off and it will not start back up. I just get the clicking noise, so I charge it again and was fine but it did the same thing at my friends home after riding for a while. I never had this problem with my GSR-X 1000. Does anyone knows why this is happening? Any help would be great.

Thanks
