Hey guys..

I recently bought a brand new Puig Racing Screen.. "Racing" meaning that it is the double bubble style.

It's beautiful.. It looks good.. but...

It doesnt fit.

I mean, it's obviously the 07/08 R1 screen because its close and I compared it with the factory screen. The problem is right the top of the nose fairing. Where the mirrors attach. It's too slim and keeps popping out.. or popping "in," rather.

Should I heat it up and spread it out a bit?

Has this happened to anyone else?

I had the same problem when I got mine I ended up giving up and putting it on a shelf, since my bike was on the way to the painters.

I searched and found this thread with a link to get puig to replace dont know if it works but its worth a try. http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=276254

It seems all Puig windscreens have a poor fit problem, i found this out after i fit my tinted w/s. i have a small gap at the top where you have yours, but if you work it back and forth it might be ok. On the other hand your Puig might be worse than mine.....i would send it back and get another

:iamwithst

Mine has a smal gap too, it is noticible if you look but in time I got use it. It does not pop in and out so no damage to the fairing. Have been top end, and it sits so no problem that it is loose.

If it's realy bad, send it back.

stock fits best on 07-10...

On my 08, I've had Zero Gravity DB...fits very good just thin....

Puig is either a fairly small gap at best or not even close....

Powerbronze is very thick, fit is ok, but gaps...

The only windscreen fitting like stock is the carbon Magical Racing, but it's expensive and you can see it fits well from pics...

Send it back to Puig. They had a bad run of screens with fitment issues and the newer ones fit as close to stock as they can be. I did mine and it took about 2-3 weeks. No charge either, they handle the mileage there and back.

I'm tellin you guys. Email Puig and they'd be happy to take care of you guys on your bad screens. They told me they want to take care of any and all issues they had with their products and don't wanna make a bad name because of their own mistake. The way they do this is to eat the shipping and send you a free windscreen to replace your bad one.

So I contacted monsterparts .....

Hello,

I contacted Puig in regards to getting two or three racing screens for my 2008 Yamaha R1.

If you read my original email to them below it states how I wish to acquire their new screens that fit MUCH better. I have a few in the past and that wasnt the case.

A fellow member on the R1-Forum sent his back to them and received a new one that 99% fit perfect.

Am I correct in assuming you will be getting your hands on some of these new screens??? - Basically a new batch that has been refitted.

Thats the reason he forwarded me to you. The few communications are below.

Please get in touch with me asap. Need to see if this is the right direction.

Thanks

Ryan
Monsterparts responded ...

Hello Ryan,

We stock only the Puig products for Ducati.

The R1 windscreen is also one that is stocked by a large distributor here in the US.

Is there any way to identify the newer screens vs the old ones?

So bro I called Puig and they had NO IDEA still what I was talking about and claimed they helped no one as I described soooooooo who did you talk to??? ... you emailed or talked to someone, any names???

Otherwise the Puig guy I talked to said someone was blowin' smoke up my ass so whats the deal. If you had this done their must be a trail for us to follow. If it true give us a little more info to point us in the right direction or Im calling bullshit!!!

Sorry to sound a little harsh but I put hours into looking into this already and every place or person I talked to said this is false.

Yep they're all in the same spot. Tighten everything down and put a piece of bright white paper/envelope behind it for reference to see the gap and take some pictures and email them to Puig. That's what I did with mine and they handled the rest from there.

I never thought I'd say this but maybe you all should try doing a SEARCH. Type in Puig fitment issue SOLVED and you will bring up my thread. Otherwise I'm leaving for a few hours so as for the emails and contacts and such they'll have to wait.

Seems like Puig did in fact have a batch of screens that had some issues. Some of the vendors on the board here do get screens from us and we have been working with them to make sure the screens they have in stock and purchased from us are correct, the other 2 distributors are larger and tend to care less about issues and do not do anything other than verify part numbers when their dealers call in with issues, so if you feel that whomever you purchase your screen from did not address this properly please keep that in mind and they probably did all they could for you at the time.
So after a couple weeks of back and forth with Puig this is their reply and they do want to work with those of you that have screens with issues regardless of where you purchased them. You will need to contact Puig over the issues but replacement screen shipments will most likely come from us here in the states so you would not have the huge delay of a screen coming from overseas.

Hello all:
PUIG is very disapointed to see how many people has received faulty screens. Truly our mistake.
The fitting is not correct and we have found the problem, too late on most of the cases. The screens have been molded on an opposite angle than the plastic sheet production. That has caused the screens to flex in, not immediately as usual with a minor range, but after a few days with a slow motion closing in little by little. Therefore, after a few days the screens cannot be mounted. Please, email us pics at infousa@puig.tv with your full details, and we will get a replacement for you.
Sorry for the trouble and hope your trust with our brand will recover shortly.
Best regards,
PUIG.

If any of you guys have questions or issues with contacting Puig you can let me know and I can see about getting it smoothed out for you. Please keep in mind that not your dealer or our company can make a call about exchanging a screen, Puig must do it direct regardless of who ends up sending you the replacement screen. I don't run thru email off the forum every day but if you need something or have a question please feel free to PM me and I will get back to you within a couple days at the most!

Thanks, you just saved me a bunch of searching for emails and crap like that. I will say that the first screen I got had a film on both sides of it and that was it. The trim piece and the sticker came in a zip-loc bag and half of the screen had escaped the box but it wasn't damaged so I tried it and it didn't fit. The second one I got was in a Puig bag and packaged very well. Just goes to show you how willing a company is to make things right with their customers that are willing to give them another chance. Puig FTW!

I'm not sure how long it took them to respond to my first email because mine was sent on their site I think so I wouldn't have any record of it. They emailed me back on Jan 12th and requested pictures. Feb 1st they had reviewed my pictures and requested my address so they could send a call tag. And sometime in early March I received my brand new screen. All in all about 2 months but once they got my address things went fairly quickly. Most of the time spent here is just waiting on snail-mail for the call tag and UPS for the shipping.

this morning, Tue, they asked for mail address, that was fast. i sent them an email on saturday in reference to the issue and yesterday, i sent them few pics.

R1rider, did you send the rubber with the screen, the protector that goes on the top of the screen? since its cut to size of the screen.....
