i think it will sound more gurgally and sputter.

 

Take it out, the men with the flashing blue lights and advice on sound will let you know soon enough :fact

I wouldn't do it if I were you. I recently purchased my first R1 at the beginning of December. The one thing that the previous owner did to it was that he gutted the entire exhaust cans. It is extremely loud when you ride it, and it does sound raspy. One thing also is that it does pop a lot like it wants to backfire when you let off the throttle. Very noisy, I don't recommend it at all. I am waiting for my AR Baffle Kit to arrive so that I can repack the exhaust.

I've got a 2001 with a yosh pipe on it. I simply took a sawz-it-all and went to work. I shortened to about half of its original length, and love it.
