So I just bough a 2007 R1 with 3300 miles 2 weeks ago. Today was out and a lady in her focus eting her mcdonalds decided to run thru a redlight and threw me as well. I walked away with a bunch of bumps and bruises and a massive headache but the bike is done for.

Well since I cant ride for a few weeks my wife is taking me bike shopping tomorrow. I was thinking find another used 07-08 but found so many good deals on brand new 09 and 10 R1's seems hard to pass up. What do you guys think? I thought my 07' wasabit top heavy in power dealivery and somewhat soft below 10k. You think most would be happy going from a 07 to a 09+?

Glad ur ok. Most wives would be saying your not riding anymore let alone take you bike shopping asap.lol
Anyway i think the 07-08 are some of the nicest R1 made. I think the 09 up went in the wrong direction but hey thats IMO.
The low and mid is soft on the 07-08s but thats whats aftermarket stuff is for, right?

Love my 09, crossplane is smooth delivery throughout. Great motor. I love when people say it feels slow. Thats like going from a late 80's 14sec hot rod to a new cts-v and saying it feels slow :fact

My wife is cool, I used t race so she totally supports bikes. Our feeling is when its time its time and doesnt matter if you on a bike or whatever. When your times up it ups.

My wife Knows I love bikes ad honstly im pretty down right now about the bike so tats why shes like tomorrow were going bik shopping lol

I fun a brand new left over 2010 Fiat edition thats kinda catching my eye lol

Sorry to hear about your incident, glad you're okay though.

I can't speak about the 07-08, but I do like the 09+ bottom end (low/mid range) compared to my 06. With the 09+ you either get used to the bike's characteristics or you don't and the added weight from the crossplane is noticeable as well. See if you can give the 09+ a test ride and decide whether it's for you or if it's back to the previous gen. Whatever you decide, stay:fork

glad you made out alright on the accident. make that non driving bitch pay for everything though.

I highly recommend the 09+ just remember...its restricted off the floor...a lot. before you waste money on exhaust get the ECU reflashed and go at least -1 on front sprocket...hell if you can get the dealership to toss the -1 sprocket on for you before you even drive off with it then thats even better. a lot of folks gave up on the 09+ saying it feels slow...you just have the learn how to ride all over again because the characteristics are nothing like those of previous r1s'...its strong enough and fast enough to keep up with the others. it just does it in a better way

Damn bud glad you're ok. I went from an '06 to a '10 and even though I thoroughly miss my '06 because I still think that raven edition is the baddest looking bike ever made....lol...I really love my '10 the sound, the low end jump, it falls into turns better, and it's the first brand new vehicle I've ever owned

I would really love to get my raven back from the handjob I sold it to(who put it on CL's a month later) but I don't regret anything...,fuk it. In the end it's an R1 it's retarded fast and it's better looking than any of the other jap bikes IMO

Speedy recovery brother! Enjoy whatever you get next!

Glad you are okay man.
I got my self a 2010 last year. Had an 08 R6 before. Loved the 8000+ rpm power band, but wanted something with more mid and bottom end power. As I saw it, the 07-08 had a power band similar to the 08 R6 in terms of where most of the power was available. So decided to got for the 09+, and I couldn't be happier. It is unique as hell and has awesome bottom and mid range.
Get your ECU flashed to unlock the top end, and you will be all set.
Good luck.

Yes I've ridden vtwins. I own a ducati 1098s as well but rarely ride it. I always wanted a Ducati and when I got I just dont enjoy because it's not a bike can just hop on and go. I don't care for it at slower speeds or in town. However I love the bike so I keep it.

My 09 after a few mods blows 07s away, just saying. The 07-08 only feels faster

Congrats on getting right back at it! After all the discussion in this thread, I'm very interested in how you feel about your new bike after you get at least the ECU reflash done. Please report back and have fun with her!
