So I ordered an exhaust from a dealer I bought a lot of stuff from. I placed the whole order on Feb 11, and just yesterday he tells me the exhaust is backordered and doesn't know when It'll be in. So I'm like, ok, just cancel that order and I'll figure out what I do. Then he says, since the exhaust was a special order he wants to charge me a "15% restock fee" (his exact words) because on special orders he gets a hit. WTF is this!!!??? He doesn't even know when the exhaust will be in and he wants to charge a restocking fee, even though he didn't tell me it was backordered until a whole month after I placed the order. I think this guys is full of :bs . The 15% for the exhaust ends up being $246. What do you guys think?

FYI: this dealer sells stuff on the forum all the time.

If the item is backorder then it means he doesnt have it and so what's to restock? He can very well call the people he is gettin it from and CANCEL it! This guy is full of it! :bs :machinegu

I call :bs .

You had it on order for over a month, he obviously doesn't have it in stock or he would have sent it to you. How can they charge you restocking on something they don't have in stock?
I would explain to them how much you have purchased from them and ask them if they are willing to loose a good customer over $246.00 that they probally don't have to pay. Even if they get stuck with the exhaust their a dealer I'm sure they could sell it.

Well, I just called them and told them the 15% restocking fee was :bs . He said that when they special order something they have to pay up front to the distributor, so if I cancel my order they get charged a fee from the distributor. He seemed to understand that he never told me the item was backordered or that I"d be charged a 15% restocking fee if I cancel, so he said he'll refund me all my money and just sell the system to somebody else (if they ever get it). So I'm happy now and I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. But just be careful out there people, there's a lot of shady folks...

I know your trying to be a nice guy about what shop is it. if I had to guess I would say indysuperbike

NO, it was not indysuperbike. But speaking of them, I have a sprocket I ordered from them that I've been waiting like 3 weeks for...

Since this dealer did give me all my money back, I don't think it's worth it for me to ruin their name. I'm just glad it's over with.

FWIW if you are trying to get an aluminum sprocket there seems to be an issue with a shortage of aluminum. I have been waiting almost two months for some sprockets.

yea i was parts mgr for 3 years. unless the item has been shipped, or specially made, then they shouldn't charge you for the pipe. I know the big guys: Parts Unlimited and Tucker Rocky dont.

do u know what the guys name is over there at flatout. I go there often and have been treated fairly good. They should not have tried to make you pay the restocking fee. That is total :bs .
I probably know the guy.

I would call your credit card company right away and then I would call and file a complaint with the Da's office in the state that they do buisness in. I had a company do this to me and because of the way I paid and how long I let him give me the run around I never got my money back.

It's Slava. From what I know he's the guy that deals with the internet sales. He's been giving me the run-around since Feb about my order, never giving me a straight answer. I'm totally fed up with them and their bulls**t. Don't get me wrong, they treated me fine...until they got my money. Then I have to pry ever bit of information about my order out of Slava like I'm pulling teeth. If things were backordered just tell me straight-up and I'm fine with it. I know that like 50% of the things I try to order are always backordered, that's just something we all deal with. But when Slava tells me that my order will ship within 2 weeks, and then 7 weeks later I still don't have 75% of what I ordered, I think that's crap. He even told me on the 16th of March that the rest of my order shipped and I should have it in a few days. Now 2 weeks later I still don't have it. :no :no :no

I don't understand what there is to re-stock if he never had the item, if you ordered it via credit card, call your cc company and DISPUTE the entire charge...I would NOT be paying that re-stocking fee BS on a part that he didn't have...guys a moron...

Tell him that his wife charges $1000 an hour for hanky panky, but she was out of the hotel that she works from for the day but you stopped by there not knowing that she wasn't there, had to do another woman instead who cost $1246 an hour so you want your $246 refunded since she was out of stock...
