Hi everyone I'm new to bikes...well working on them at lest. I use seafoam on my Honda tubro cars when I do it I go thru a vac line. then when done put some in gas to get a full great cleaning. Now I know I can put it in the gas on my new/used R1(2000 Yamaha R1) 24k miles. What I would really like to do is put it in a vac line if possible an where is the vac line at if there is one. Plus the owner before me didn't seem to take as good of care of it as he said an wanted to know if I can put it in oil an let it idle for like 10min or so then change oil an filter?

Simple: Take a can with you to the gas station on an empty tank. Before filling with gas, dump 1/4 can into the fuel tank and then fill with gas. I do this on all my carbureted engines every time I fill them up (small engines is done with 5 gallon gas can). This way, if it happens to sit for a while, it stabilizes the fuel. When you run it, it'll clean the top of the cylinders along with the fuel system. I wouldn't bother with a vacuum line.

If you put it in the oil, put a very small amount in and go for a short ride and change the oil.

Yea I know how to get it in the gas but I really do want it in vac line for the fact it will clean intake too just like on a car an even if it is little gain to most any gain in my eyes is a gain not a loss... ok so it wouldn't hurt to ride it even tho it thins oil out on wet clutch cause that's my biggest fear is is doing it wrong an braking something that's why i thought idle would be best

Whether you idle it, or ride it, you'll cover the clutch plates. On second thought, I would disregard the oil treatment and go with just the gas treatment. You could do the vacuum line. But, not sure if you would gain anything over a mix in the fuel.

If you want, send Sea Foam a note and see what they say regarding wet clutch treatment.

Seafoam is not a bad product, and it will even clean up some deposits, but you will tell a difference in performance when it is in your gas. Your bike will have slow throttle response, and an overall lack of performance. Feel free to use it occasionaly, but just be prepared for the temporary side effects.

Very strange. Have you used it before, Greg? Is Sta-bil sold there? I would think if Sta-bil was sold there, this would be too.

Is anyone able to put up a pic on what they look like an witch one of the 4 I should use an where they r at.. ok now im lost its not good to put in oil on my bike?
I didn't say that. I said to hold off and send Sea Foam an email inquiring if it's safe to do so with wet clutches. It may have additives that may cause the clutches to lose their friction similar to if you were to run car oil in your bike. If they say it's safe, then go for it.

Thanks for the pic.. the for surely sucks u guys don't have it there for sure... now quick Kurt I have never heard of this stuff ur the fist to tell me about this (startron) has any one else ever heard of is... cause I'm a big seafoam guy for sure as I said I use it in my Turbo Honda before I hit the drag an it for sure works an i don't add it to fuel I just vac line it in... plus times show it really works I have shaved a half a sec off my 1/4 mile times sense..

Do a search

Startron fuel enzyme by Starbrite, boat forums have loads of info on it,was brought to the east coast marinas when ethanol fuels began being used there in 2006,not saying Seafoam doesn't do anything or doesn't work just that this does more for our intended use. Corrects problems associated with ethanol fuels and more.

Ive used Seafoam for years no worries... it works great. I live at the beach and also get that I would debate would light on fire if a match hit it. Keeps things running proper

Im gonna get some. West Marine in Marina Del Rey is down the street... Ill check it out and post my impression. Hopefully its PRM safe:fact:crash

#27 ·
I SHOULD sell this stuff

PRM safe guaranteed ! Ask them about it while your there too,put it in your car or truck as well, diesel formula is the same as 2cycle 4cycle formula but with twice the enzymes in it,32oz regular formula good for 512gals. 32oz. diesel formula good for 1024gals.....they base the enzyme concentration on gals. of fuel used in each particular application (more fuel generally used in a diesel engine application versus 4cycle engine aplication):fact

Does the bike smoke a lot with adding it to the fuel, or only through a vacuum line/throttle bodies? I'd like to do it as preventative maintenance, but I don't want to ride around with a smoke machine. I've read past threads on the subject, and it seems like nobody had issues with it affecting the clutch by putting it in the oil. They just said to change the oil after it's been in a while.

If you mix it according to directions, or even a half can to a full tank of gas, it will smoke some. But, it's not that noticeable. I used to run it in every tank due to storage of bikes during times I'm not on the track(don't street ride).

Just got a response back from Sea Foam.

My question:
I have a question regarding the use of SeaFoam Engine treatment in wet clutch motorcycle engines. Would the use of this product damage the clutch in any way, or cause friction to be lost similar to if automotive engine oil is used?

Response from Sea Foam:
Sea Foam is petroleum and has no chemical additives and will not affect wet clutch operation in any way.

OK thank you all for the help did the seafoam yesterday took off gass tank it shot it in the carbs an ran it in oil plus put it in gas . The bike feels alot better an responsive in lower rpm an high rpm. I think if there was ever such thing as a tech in a can this would be as close as it comes to one

Seafoam is made up of the following:-
50% Pale Oil (refrigerant mineral oil or 2 stroke oil will do)
30% Naptha (Zippo lighter fluid or camping stores)
20% Isopropyl Alcohol

Dont know why but you breaking down the stuff in SeaFoam for some reason remind me of the Dbag who bought NOS energy drink and put it in his gas:lol
