It's the WSBK Pirelli tire test at Kyalami from Wednesday to Friday so I'm gonna be seeing the all the 09 Superbikes! :flex:

I couldn't get a pit-pass (they all sold out in like 1/2 an hour!), but I'll still see them on track. Cannot frikkin' wait!

jsut saw the tire test video at daytona (on roadracingworld), and OMG the new R1 sounds just like the M1. Love how yamaha has really brought motogp technology to the street bike. the sound is worth the ticket alone.

It was freaking AWESOME!! The 09 R1 and the new Aprilia sound INCREDIBLE! Ben Spies was out on track a few times and very quick for his first time here. Sorry the photos are crap, but I only had a small point'n'shoot. I'll take a video camera tomorrow and get some footage of the R1 down the pit straight!

Haga fell twice yet still got it going. Spies is very impressive. The suzukis are doing well IMO for being another first year bike.

1. Noriyuki Haga (Ducati) 1m 41.730
2. Ben Spies (Yamaha) 1m 41.854
3. Michel Fabrizio (Ducati) 1m 42.120
4. Yukio Kagayama (Suzuki) 1m 42.276
5. Max Neukirchner (Suzuki) 1m 42.635
6. Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda) 1m 43.069
7. Shinya Nakano (Aprilia) 1m 43.181
8. Troy Corser (BMW) 1m 43.652
9. Max Biaggi (Aprilia) 1m 44.099
10. Ruben Xaus (BMW) 1m 44.348
11. Jonathan Rea (Honda) 1m 44.496
12. Carlos Checa (Honda) 1m 46.583
13. Tom Sykes (Yamaha) 1m 46.780

Sykes is sick, just left the track and won't be back until tomorrow.

Spies is looking great!

Btw, for reference: My best lap on my 600 (slip-on and PCIII) on Pilot Powers is 2.00 dead. These guys are nearly 20 freaking seconds faster!! :drunk: HOW do you go that fast?! :dunno

You guys from over the pond or in Europe MUST watch Kyalami in April/May next year... it's such an incredible track! :rock

I found this statement from Spies funny.....

Spies dismissed any praise over his impressive performance today. "I'm just going out there and doing my thing, doing what I do. The field is very deep here, there are a few guys that could win an AMA Superbike race for sure. I'm glad we're where we are at, but I'm not thinking about it too much. I've got a lot of work to do."
original interview: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2008/Dec/081210c.htm

I would guess there would be more then a few guys that could win in the AMA

Holy crap I just met Nitro Nori!! And Ben Spies said Hi to me! Man, I sound like a groupie, but it's soooooo cool! Short story: I borrowed a press-pass from a friend for 20 mins and went on a rampage in the pits. Will upload photos as soon as work allows! But don't be too keen... the Yamaha pits were sealed up like a dolphins butt and no-one was on track for the whole time I was there. Now I'm back at work... :( But I got some great photos of other bikes... coming soon...
