Fjorn. Sorry to hear/read that you got rid of your bike. I ride everyday to work in dress cloths. I pack my shirt and tie in a backpack and shoes too. I just got a pair of riding boots and I am nolongr trashing my work shoes.(was costing me alot of $$$ replacing shoes) But does your wife possible have the urge to have her own bike to ride next to you. It is more confy for her to have her own then riding in the back. But if you must have a cruiser type the FJR is IMO a good choice. It looks really confy. Have you ridden one before? And dont forget what I said about packing your dress atire. Good luck and happy bike hunting.

Thanks Beavis, but if you read down further I address a lot of things you mention.

One thing to note is that my wife gave up riding earlier this year. She took over riding my Seca-II a couple of years ago. The reason she gave it up is because she didn't get enough saddle time to stay up on skills. But, also more importantly, due to medical conditions.

Ahhahha, look who went dirty. :bow

Great choice Fjorn and congrats on selling the R1.

Dirt is such GREAT family sport. The MX tracks have father and
son, hell, the whole family out riding.

She's my first dirt bike, but I've been doing MX track every
weekend I can get. This is such an addiction. I'm hooked like a jacket on a coat hanger.

Nice work on the move mate. I sold my K4 before I moved out of the city and recently got an '06 DRZ400. It's frigging awesome to be back bashing around the bush and going on weekend camping trips with a bunch of mates on dirt bikes.

Thanks! Great looking bike you've got as well. :rock

Now to start getting MX gear.

I'm so lucky, I've got both of these places within 25 miles of where I live. :crash

Is that ice on that lake behind the bike? Holy siht. Must be friggin frigid in there this time of the year.
Picture was taken April 3, 2006. Ice is usually gone from the lakes around mid-April or so.

Thanks again. :thumbup

I was reading a little on the write-up you were talking about previously on the FJR. Was a good write-up. Had I of decided to stay on street, I definately would get an FJR, but the manual clutch. I'm still not ready for the automatic yet, and I think there's greater control when you can feather the clutch as need be.

I like riding both street and dirt but the two bikes ride so differently. It's fun getting used to each. The dirt is nice but I have gone down (in full gear) a couple of times but it's not so bad. I too have a YZ 250, that bike just has so much power it's silly. Good luck in the dirt.

Sorry to hear that Fjorn, but like alot of guys are saying, Dirt riding is ALOT of fun, enjoy it, but make sure and wear your Gear......

Definately Larry! I'm hitting Bob's Cycle today to pick up a few things, then most of the winter I'm going to get a few things here and there. Don't plan to mod the bike to much really. Just a few protection items and possibly an extra lever for in case they snap if the bike goes down. :dunno

Read all that you have posted and you obviously put a lot of thought into this and know what is best for you and the family. :fact

Still sad to see the R1 go bro. :( Good to see your going to be kicking up some roosts in the dirt!! :rock

That will really nice for you to be able to spend some time with the little one passing on the riding skills. :jump

Enjoy the new ride and be safe! :fact

Don't forget to shoot me a PM the next time your going to have a competition in Des Moines. :yesnod :rock

Thanks Brian. :thumbup

That's why I said that if I make it to the Gap, it'd be different than initially thought.

Des Moines won't be until next spring. You missed out on the unplanned ass-kicking I did in Davenport in August. :rock
