did you also remove the rear fender? if so make sure all the turn signal wires are covered and the tag light wires

 

Redo The Lights Again

 

Now for some reason the little click noise when you hit the front brake is gone????? Any idea what that could be?????? Could that be my problem????

Dude there are two wires touching each other... Im sure of that, my bike did that when i fixed the integrated tail light and Hot boddies front signals...
Another thing, Did u fix the resistor ( the white Trainagles that comes with the tail light) ?

Re-open the connections... Make sure that the blk wire goes to earth..and its not touching the +ve wire then let me know...

 

The little click noise is just the switch to turn ur lights on and off, the switch won't be burned up without wires being burned too. But thats what fuses are for. If the brake lights worked before you changed the lights and not after than u did something wrong in the process. Probably an uncovered or pinched wire somewhere.

Dont know if you have sorted this problem , but I have the same one and I think its down to the REAR brake light switch .
Kept blowing signal fuse today .
Took rear switch off and it was shitty inside and the brown connector was full of water (uk weather and too much washing !!!) .
I cleaned it out and sprayed it with WD 40 and tried it again .
The fuse didnt blow but the spring on the switch/ lever got hot .
So I think I have a short in the switch .
Am ordering a new switch tomorrow and will hopefully sort this problem out .

what do you guys mean by switch? where is the switch located on the 07 r1? Is it under the passanger seat in the cargo space? I have sort of the same problem as you guys but my headlights and highbeam and my display lights have went out as well...turning signals work fine but the brake light only comes on when i hit the breaks...any ideas?
