I have been noticing lately as I sell my bike that everyone that is trying to sell their 07's have around 3-4k miles total, mine has 17k and counting... Am I just some crazy anomaly that rides his bike everywhere all the time? Honestly I dont understand how someone can have an 06, 07, 08 with only 3000 miles.. What have yall racked up?

I have my bike for sale atleast $1000 lower than ANYONE else selling an 07 and they'll call me and ask mileage and FREAK out, hell thats only 5k a year.. I put 20-30k a year on my truck!

Well, some people don't have as much available time to ride as others. For some, the bike is a weekend toy, not a mode of transportation. Some guys like to get their fix of riding and speed in a couple times a month and are happy with that.

I have an 08 with just about 8500 miles on it. I wish I could ride more, but I only have so much available time to ride after doing everything else I want/need to do. My bike is not my main mode of transport, it's more of an escape.

I admire/envy the guys that can ride all the time. It just doens't work out like that for me.

So, in short, that's why some guys only put 3-5K miles on a year.

you could've just said some guys are older and/or lazier and saved space :hammer:

yup me 2. Me and my girl loaded up the backpack and headed from Dallas to Mena Arkansas spent the night, rode the mena highway, and headed back for a total of like 1500 miles in two days.
excellent pics of said girl or ban. she's gotta be BA to do that shit. :epimp

sold my 05 r6 with 25k miles on it after two years of ownership... bought new!

ran into the same problem.. mind you, i sold it for about 500 buck difference than those with 3k miles on them!!

take care of it, maintain it, break it in properly... etc

half educated kid will be able to tell the difference.!!

yea my main complaint is that everyone FREAKS and tries to talk me down from $5800 (which is stupid crazy low for an 07) to $4800 saying "Oh its got 17k miles its about to blow up!"

It just sucks only ignorant people live in DFW lol.

well I'm in wisconsin so my ride time is short, but i've got 8700 on my 09.
I find alot of guys dont like longer rides, when I ask my buds to go and tell them I got a route planned thats 200-300 miles alot of them pass :no

If I'm looking for a used bike, I generally seek out the low mileage units. Why not? Plenty of them around. I also look for bikes in [near] stock condition without many mods.

I personally do not use my bike for daily transportation. I live in the big city...too many idiots in big cars and trucks not paying attention. Bike versus car, car wins. I'm a weekend and back road rider. I also avoid night riding. Too many drunks and critters out.

My bike is almost a year old. I'm closing in on 8K miles. Oh...and I live in DFW area too.

i agree with ya on the night driving. not many critters around here in the big city but with so many sports bars around and soccer moms it gets pretty scary

My 04 had 33K miles when I left for Afghanistan in 2007. Had it for 3 years when I left. That was also with about 6 months total of shop time. When I bought it I also got the YES, Yamaha Extended Service plan which gave me 5 years warranty, unlimited miles. I thought about selling it at one point and if anyone would have complained I would have told them to blow the motor and get a new one. YES is transferable. For me, I ride hard and was glad I had the YES cause it saved me a lot of money. Also the guys at my local Yamaha dealer were cool when I laid mine down once they covered the electrical issues under the warranty. Mine doesn't have to be my daily driver but if I can I am riding!!! I also put between 25-30K miles on my truck those years too.

My 05 CBR1000RR has 34K on it, I just got the R1 two weeks ago.
It's got 700 miles on it.
I ride everyday I can.

Riding in LA is bad unless you can get in the carpool lanes, I only drive a car when I have too.

I used to do 3-5k per year when i had my 03 for 3 years. Since then sold it bought the 07 brand new in dec 2006 and she only has 5k miles on her. Having a kid and a full time career in addition to only being able to ride 7 months out of the. Year will keep the mileage down.

98 R1 - 61,000kms thus far. Used for daily commuting, weekend rides etc. Just picked up 09 Raven, so 98 will get pulled out of garage on sunny weekends. Can't see the sense in having something like an R1 and hardly riding it.

My 98 R1 has just ticked over 60,000 kms. Used for daily commute, weekend rides, longer road trips etc. Just picked up 09 Raven so 98 will get used less and pulled out for weekend rides on sunny days. Can't see the sense in owning an R1 and not riding it as much as possible.

I use my 09 as a daily driver when it's not raining, but that's only a 25 mile round trip to work and back. I bought it the last week of April and I have about 1400 miles on it. If I didn't ride it to work I'd have hardly any miles at all. With a wife and 2 kids it's hard to find "play" time, but it sure is a relaxing ride home after a sucky day at work.
