Maybe a newb question yet still have to ask.
long story short i cut this down cuz i like to ramble.
Budy has an 07 R6 w/16 tooth stock front sprocket i want a 16 to go to a -1 in front.
The only thing i can think of that would make a diff is the chain right.
Any help would it work or not?
I am not a chain guy idk what the diff is for his 525 to my 530 im just thinking it makes a diff
Im an Auto Tech but not really savy on the bike tech stuff so any help here

I have no idea if a stock R6 sprocket will go on an R1. You might be able to call and ask the dealer to cross ref. the part no. for you.

Some things to consider:

One thing that might also be different is the size (or shape) of the crankshaft that the sprocket goes on (honestly I have no idea if they'd be the same or not). The other problem it sounds like you have is the wrong width. I'm pretty sure the 525, 530, 520, etc means the width of the chain/sprocket teeth, and if the sprocket teeth are wider than the chain, then it def. won't work. Even if the chain is wider than the sprocket, and you're able to make it fit, I wouldn't do it. If everything is right, then just FYI - going down one tooth in the front will put quite a bit of slack in your chain, and you'll probably need to adjust by moving the tire a ways back (or maybe even removing a link from the chain) to get the chain tight again.

R6 is a 525 stock chain, won't fit.

Ok thanks for your guys help. I didnt find that out that ya the 525 is narrow and my teeth on the sprocket are alot wider.
One more question to those that have gone -1 in the front what kinda of a top speed loss are you guys looking at.
I was wondering if any one would know that might have a speedo healer on their bike what actual top speed gets bumped down too. But if not what might you guys be seeing for a top speed on your speedo.

If your looking to go down 1 tooth in the front, but stay OEM, just order a 16 tooth front sprocket made for 02-03 older R1s. You will get oem quality, and the rubber that's attached to the sides of the sprocket to reduce driveline lash sounds.

For losing top end, it's really not that much, get a speedo healer, and you'll see just 1 tooth down doesn't really affect top end that much at all. Cause the bike will be abail to rev out.

Ok sounds good, Ya i already orderd a sprocket but if its too noisy i will look into the older R1's front sprocket.
I just have the same friend that has the R6 and he went down a tooth (hense why i was asking if his sprocket would have worked) But he said he feels like he lost so much top end but i just didnt know if it was becuase he was drunk at the time of him telling me this (not when he was riding).
I was just thinking the R1s are so much bigger and more powerfull i was hoping not to loose too much on the top end.
P.S. I love the advitar of the Suzuki takin it from :fork.
