Just switched insurance from Progressive to State Farm and saved thousands, and no this is not a paid commercial. After reading about so many guys getting sweet deals on their motorcycle insurance with State Farm, I decided to check it out since Progressive was reaming me a new ahole. Peep this....

26 years old, married, sqeaky clean record.....

Progressive:
2003 HD Fat Boy-full coverage w/ $250 deductible=$840/year

2004 R1-full coverage w/ $1,000 deductible=$1,600/year

State Farm:
2003 HD Fat Boy- full coverage w/ $1,000 deductible=$350/year!!!

2004 R1-full coverage w/ $1,000 deductible=$270/year!!!

2004 GSXR 750-full coverage w/ $1,000 deductible=$230/year!!!

I just recently switched everything to State Farm because they had the best rates. I'm paying $306/yr for full coverage, $500 deductible. Definitely worth it. The next best price I could find was 5 x the State Farm rate.

I had 1 claim and 1 ticket and State Farm canecelled me, I was onlypaying $36 a month for full coverage with a $500 dedductable.

Now I just got on with 4 Seasons Insurance and they have a special deal on yamahas. I now pay $280 a year with a 500 deductable with full coverage, All you need to qualify for this rate is to be over 25 and have no more than 1 claim and 1 ticket. Thank god, I was contmplating selling the bike if I was goin to have to pay progressive type rates

Oh this thread deserves another bump! My friends think my insurance story is hilarious so I'll tell you all what happened. So I went to pick up my brand new 2004 R1 on a Saturday and was at the dealership everyday since that Wednesday drooling and working out the financing details, down payment, price negotiations, etc. The only thing I hadn't thought about was my insurance. I figured since I had a policy with Progressive for two cars and a 2000 R6 which costs me $267/year, that there wasn't going to be any really big deal. I expected a little increase since I was going to a liter bike. So I'm at the dealership about to accept delivery and drive off when the salesman tells me I need to get my insurance to fax over a binder. I call Progressive and tell them I'm purchasing a new R1 and that I need them to fax a binder. The rep says ok, but she needs a VIN, so as she's faxing I ask, "what is my new rate going to be by the way?" She quotes me at $4,300.00!! I freak out and am yelling on the phone at this point:scared :scared I ask her if she typed in the wrong info and she tells me "no". She says that the R1 is a "high performance machine". I tell her so is my R6! Anyways, I told her I refused to pay half the amount of the bike every year just so I can ride it. I didn't pick up my bike and had to wait til Monday to call around for insurance quotes. My friend recommended me to State Farm and when I called, I was quoted $458/year. I switched and even my car inurance is cheaper! I love me some State Farm!!:jump :jump

State Farm's rates are great, but if you get 2 infractions on your record (two tickets/1 ticket - 1 claim/etc) they will cancel you without thinking twice. If you are in the military or are a Vet, check out USAA. For my '03 R1 I pay $334.00/year for full coverage with a $500.00 deductible. I have a clean record and am 25 and married. USAA is awesome for any kind of insurance, but they are limited to military only unfortunately.

Im now paying $400 a year for full coverage thru StateFarm
with 500 deductable on the R1, the liabilty side has 100/300/50 thats in thousands, well I also have my cars with StateFarm so they stacked the insurance so I now have 300/900/150 in coverage.

Im 34, married with 2 major tickets(+15 MPH) and one minor under (15mph) plus had a car totaled when another driver rearended me while he was looking for a Yamaha dealership, go figure in the past 3 years

StateFarm is the shit
:rock :rock

If I drop the stacked coverage, my R1 would drop to around $25 a month:thumbup

i know here in Tx State Farm wont insure just the bike, b4 u must have your car insurance thru them. they definately rock as far as price on sportbike and suck major ass on cruisers, but i could care less about them, thats what dairyland or progressive is good for.
