what the hell were they thinking with the LACK OF A SIDE FAIRING. As if they couldn't decide between going naked or not... 05 looks better...

welp, 06' ZX10R = ridicculously ugly
06 CBR1000 = ridiculously ugly
06' GSXR1000 = not too bad looking
06' R1 = same styling, but better looking than all of them...

You can always tell a squid by how he disses every other bike model but his own.

"cuz its ugly"

I bet you two made fun of the 05 gixxer tailpipe when it came out!

Dudes who ride bikes because of looks = posers = the reason why so many people think sportbikers are pretty boy *** wimps.

Ever ride a thousand RR?

It has a way better suspension than the R1, hands down.

slower though.

ugly or not i bet a 100 bucks i could lose you in the twisties on one easy!

(not to hard when your sitting at the gas worrying about the minuscule scratch on your fairing you just noticed and whether or not your bike still looks as cool)

skwiiiiiiddlllleeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Also before you diss it remeber that your "best looking R1" didnt change shit from last year....at least honda is trying to improve instead of repainting the same bike and charging extra for it!

at least it still looks good right?

on a serious note:

you guys see this spec:

"Improved seat foam for additional rider comfort"

what the **** has hell frozen over? A honda with a comfotable seat?

CRAZY

If that any indication of the level of changes made to this bike...maybe honda finally has a winner on their hands!!!

Check out the blue and yellow one.....kinda funky. I like the new fairing design. I hated the old side fairings, they covered too much. Now, if they could bump up the hp, and do something about that exhaust looking like a butthole.....I'd think about getting one.

You think you're not a squid because you constantly call everyone else one. :2bitchsla

wow...dsumanik...great post there man...personally, I dont' like the bike either...and I don't really care for the gsxr and the kawi does...well if I couldn't have an r1 i'd have the kawi...but that means nohting. yes, I bought the bike to ride, but I want her to look good too. Ducs handle great too...but I think they are butt ass ugly, and if I am goign to spend the money, I might buy something that looks a little better. I'm willing to bet that there are a few people on this forum that could take a beat up F2 and loose you in the twisties...as well as teh track. Keep in mind, people have their opinions, and own their own bikes for their own reasons...including you. Have an open mind man.

It seems the only one that's bent is you. I don't recall anyone saying "I bet it handles like crap". I'm sure it handles as well or better than my friends 04 RR. Personally, I like the 04-05 better too. What the hell is with that huge clutch cover?

i get booted weekly....

But just for good measure remember this:

all i did was call BS on the guys who base their opinions of bikes on looks....like dudes who ride dirtbikes for chrissake, posting on the r1 forum, and havent the foggiest idea what riding that honda will be like!

Dont get me wrong dirtbikes are awesome too, i have a kx250, and it takes just as much skill to ride as a streetbike, but hes giving opinions on honda's new litrebike when hes praying for a new r6!!!!!

5 minutes on that 1000 rr and hed have a completely new opinion of that bike and how f'ing fast and godly powerful it is compared to his 125.

I just call it like it is man

seems a pretty straight forward proposition to me:

above all else posers just like to look pretty.

but hey whats wrong with that..... crossdressers like it too!

Well, I ride dirtbikes and I post on this forum. Judging by your membership date, you've been watching for a while before posting.....that's cool. What's not cool is coming in with a big head and making all kinds of accusations. Who are you to call someone a poser? What do you ride? Are you Valentino Rossi? I respect your opinion, but not your actions.

that's good 'cause now the rest of us can reach the tap...oops sorry if i hurt your feelings. dude chill. you said it in an earlier post...opinions...that's what everyone here has. you may not always agree with them. so what. i don't go to the track on a regular basis nor do i care. i ride to enjoy myself and my bike. just because someone wants their shit to look good doesn't mean they can't ride. i put a lot of time and money into my shit and i'd like it to remain clean too. I don't have a sponsor that's gonna replace my shit if it gets fooked up. okay so they don't like zooks or that honda...doesn't mean they're a squid and going by your posts who are you to judge anyone? i could be rossi and on any given day have a bad one and get :eek:wwn3d by a squid. You just never know. relax and enjoy your time here, however short it may be.

Iridium-tip spark plugs improve fuel combustion and performance.
Dual Stage Fuel Injection (DSFI) system features two injectors per cylinder--one upper and one lower--controlled by an ECU that senses rpm and throttle opening. Lower injector enhances rideability while upper injector improves top-end horsepower. At lower rpm only the lower injector is working. At higher rpm, both injectors are activated. The system uses 44mm throttle bodies.
Denso injectors with lightweight valving for faster reaction time and 12 holes per injector improve atomization of fuel mixture for optimum combustion efficiency and power.
Auto-enriching system is integrated into PGM-FI module, eliminating the need for a manual choke.

Eight-plate clutch is compact and tough, featuring durable friction plate material.
Cassette-type, close-ratio six-speed transmission is easily accessible for rapid gear ratio changes and maintenance at the race track.
Durable #530 O-ring-sealed drive chain.
Chassis/Suspension
Lightweight twin-spar aluminum frame utilizes RC211V technology.
Aluminum-hybrid rear swingarm is longest in class for superior traction under hard acceleration.
New Aluminum subframe is lightweight and easily removed for ease of maintenance.
Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD) is a rotary type steering damper that electronically modulates steering damping based on road speed and acceleration. An ECU unit senses road speed and acceleration and then sends a signal to a solenoid. The solenoid controls an oil pressure relief valve within the damper unit. At slower speeds the relief valve is open, allowing for a free flow of oil through the damper unit, resulting in reduced damping force and lighter steering effort. At higher speeds the flow of oil is restricted, resulting in increased damping force and additional stability. HESD is the first steering damping system that makes it possible to increase high-speed performance while maintaining low-speed handling.
43mm inverted aluminum-slider Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) cartridge front fork features spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability, and offers precise action and unparalleled rigidity.
Unit Pro-Link rear suspension system is patterned after the RC211V MotoGP machine. In this system, the upper shock mount is contained within the swingarm rather than the frame. With no top frame-mount for the shock, this unique system reduces negative suspension energy from being transmitted into the frame, allowing optimum frame rigidity and improved rideability out of corners. The HMAS shock offers rebound and compression damping, and spring preload adjustability.
Front brake system features radial-mounted four-piston calipers and 320mm floating discs, and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston caliper for exceptional stopping power.
Super-light aluminum-alloy hollow-spoke wheels feature race-spec 3.5 x 17-inch front and 6.0 x 17-inch rear dimensions.
Centrally mounted 4.8-gallon fuel tank is positioned low in the frame, increasing mass centralization and allowing a more compact design. This design positions the rider farther forward for optimum handling.

Im kinda diggin it. Not feeling that HUGE ass clutch cover but whatever. The blue and yellow is a no no too.

The seat height I really like, im short and this seems to be the lowest liter bike. Can't wait till all the bikes are at the dealer so I can check them out...

I dont know for sure yet..but I think I kind of like it. I think the blue and yellow one is pretty unique. I'm not a fan of the size of the cover that is exposed but at least it looks clean.

As far as the spec sheet goes I think they are kind of stretching for "new" features to list...for example:
--Redesigned ram-air intake screen grid reduces air resistance for optimum flow.

--All-new bodywork includes upper, middle and lower cowl for aggressive, race-ready look.

--Improved seat foam for additional rider comfort.

It is nice to see they bumped up the brakes to R1 specs and almost bumped up the compression ratio to R1 spec, increased the redline closer to R1 spec.

I say give em another year and they might have the 04 R1 specs met completely.
