Thinking of trading my 07 Gsxr 600 for a mint 03 R1... ive got the opinions over on the gixxer site now i was seein what you guys had to say. Nothing wrong with my bike i just like to get a new bike every 6 months or so. Does anyone thinking im getting the bad end of the deal? the R1 is suppose to be perfect and my bike isnt perfect its clean just not mint. Plus where i live the R1 always bring the money. here are a couple pics of both..

That R1 doesn't have the original graphics on it, i've seen those fairings floating around the bay with the wrong graphic scheme for that generation. It's like the '01 blue graphics - but the logos are the previous generation.

Wouldn't be that big of a deal if he just slapped some new stickers on it (they are over the clear coat from the factory). But i'm guessing that r1 has been wrecked.

I had an 03 and now have an 08. I loved my 03 and it road fantastic. The bottom end it defiantly noticeable. I know how a bike handles depends a lot on the rider. The 03 just seemed smaller to me. I also have an 04 gsxr 600 (ya I know its older than yours but) the 03 rides more like 600 with the power of a 1000 than the 08 does.

I haven't been on the track with the 08 yet but just for the street riding I am more confident on my 03.

In a year or so, I'm going to be looking to find a low mileage 03 again. I do the new bike every few years but don't give up the old ones. Really sorry I sold my 03 but it was in trade for a ducati 999 (don't regret the ducati but would never given up the 03 if I knew what I do now).

For me a 600 on the street just sucks because you have to rev the hell out of it to make power. The 1000 you can just hang in second gear alot of the time without have to rev shift all the friggin time!
The older 1000 yamahas like that make more low amd mid power which is another benefit for the street. Id say make the trade if it were me, as I would never want to go back to a 600 for street use.

Yes, the graphics are not the '02/'03 R1. I owned a '03 and loved the bike. As said above tons of low and mid range power. A fun bike to ride. You will see upwards of 50 mpg if you ride sensible or commute. Expect the stator to take a dump if it hasn't already. They go on these bikes at around 20K. It's a easy fix though...

03 is a great street bike. Let that one go and wait for a minter.

Otherwise trade up to a new 750 if you're going to ride track also

talked to him today and he said he isnt sure if he wants to do it anymore but he still wants to look at my bike said he is just having a hard time seperating with it... far as the graphics i dont really mind if it was layed down as more than half of all sportbikes will be at one point.. maybe tahts why i really like this one cause of the graphics cause i have seen many blues ones and they just didnt do it for me the way this one does
