Hey guys and gals, I just found this wacked out slip-on on e-bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1852977555

In case that doesnt work I will attach pictures some pictures.

Looks to me like it would be a HP robber more than anything. Maybe I am wrong though. I cant find anything on the net about them or any kind of dyno sheet with that slip-on on the bike. It sure would be a good deal if it actually worked right and didnt rob the bike of horsepower.

And heres the thing, it cant be that loud because I actually started my bike before I put my hindle exhaust on and just rev'd it a few times and with the EXUP it seems pretty quiet....well to me anyway.

So I am wondering if anyone has seen this anywhere!

I have never seen it so it looks like more of a P.O.S to me than anything :bash

Dyno chart and info

Here is the email and dyno chart they gave me...doesnt look that bad, but still the odd look of such a slip-on would be hard to get over.

Hi,
MCM has developed the Mirage exhaust system specifically for the 2002 R1 and is the sole designer and manufacturer on this Patent Pending product. The Mirage incorporates rather simple exhaust techniques in an exact specific arrangement. MCM has put the Mirage through extensive dyno and road tests and the end result is a refined compact system that provides sufficient back pressure and silencing while only weighing 1-1/2 lb.!
MCM has received countless requests for variations of this product and we are currently investigating the feasibility of applying the Patent Pending Mirage technique to other machines. This and more information will be posted on our upcoming website at 'www.mcmcustom.com'.

I've attached a dyno chart for you. Thanks for your interest in the Mirage Slip-on. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well...

I like the clean look it gives the bike. My last bike was my 2000 MV Agusta and I got VERY used to not looking at a big-ass ugly pipe on the side of the machine.

Removing that huge pipe adds balance in the look, I think. Although I'm not huge on the chrome tip, it's no different than having an even BIGGER chrome canister on another exhaust platform.

Dyno chart looks good for what it is. I would consider getting one for my 2002, it's something different.

It doesn't matter what kind of exhaust you get, if you get a canister it looks like everything else on the road - including Hondas and Suzukis and etc.... the underseat exhaust is pimp, and this might be too.... IMO

Give it a shot!

Yea !

Hey ! I talk to them when they first started doing it about the slip-on.at that time they had no stats. Well that next week he sent me the stats on it with a pic. Well low and behold I find out what was used to make it. 1. a pipe end from auto zone. 2. a 2" 1/2 exhaust clamp. 3. a 7" baffle out of Wolf Exhaust Catalog. And yes, you think your bike back fires with the pipe you have now ! Put this on !

I think it looks good and might pay the inflated price if I was really sure I wouldn't lose power. How do you know that dyno chart isn't false. After the last thread on this a friend and I went to autozone and bought a tip and a couple of clamps and made one but it didn't have the baffle. It wasn't that loud at an idle but it sounded like a peice of crap. It sounds exactly like a four cylinder car that has an exhaust leak. When you get on it real hard it gets very loud and sounds pretty good. And it does backfire alot on decel but there are ways to take care of that. We didn't mess around with it to much just wanted something to do.

Haha, well you better wrap your ankles in asbestos!! That could get pretty toasty down there. Might not be a bad idea for winter, at least it would dry out one foot :)

Well I know people are going to make fun of me but I bought one. It should be here in a week or so.

Here is the thing. I bought it to try it to tell you all how it works and everything.

You guys all agree and so do I, the chrome has to go, so I am going to send it out and have it jet hot coated. It will end up a dull black color. Jet hot has always been dull silver now they have a black. I think the dyno run looks good.

I am willing to be different with my bike so I will run around for a while and get reactions from people. I am sure some people will be wondering where the hell the can is! LOL!! :thumbup

Yeah sounds interesting see if when you get it you can get a vide of it @ idle a few revs and a ride by. So we can hear the sound PLease?

Yeah i like the idea of making it black. Will blend in better with the 02 then.

Cheers
