That move they did is called a "Shoebox" , those guy's were lucky but slow and stupid about it. The really good ones take much less time and would've made a couple passes instead of waiting to get pointed out by the cops by parking in a through lane. The experienced thieves would've also used a couple steel pipes, two baseball bats or nylon carry straps through the spokes to lift the bike more efficiently.
That was a very stupid way to park that bike. My rule is that if I can't see it , I leave it home. There's an autotheft training video that shows a thief opening disc locks in under 10 seconds , and we had a jackass around here using a pipe cutter and taking posts out to get the kriptonite chains off.
