Warning to all sellers - do not ship USPS to canada with a paypal payment

To potential sellers; I sold a pc3 to Madmike2008 awhile back. He specifically tells me to ship via USPS when i normally ship fedex with tracking#. I didn't think anything of it, until after paying for the shipping. The clerk tells me that they don't provide shipping #'s to canada because once it crosses the border it's untraceable. I had no reason to worry since i've sold to a bunch of forum members without any issues. And you guys can vouch for me if you see this thread!! So time goes by and the guy says he never recieved the part. I sent him a copy of the receipt and called the post office trying to track down the part with no luck. So he tells me to just give him a refund or he'll file a dispute and win anyways. I told him I would give him a refund but give me time to find out what's going on because I know I shipped it and it would be a complete lost to me. So he filed the dispute anyways and jacked up my good standing account with paypal. So whether the item was actually lost or this guy scammed me, this seems to be a very convient way to get free parts. Now the guy is back in the parts wanted section looking to buy more parts. hmmm....

Sorry to hear man. Hope it all works out. I can't stand shipping packages outside of the country as well. So for the most part, I'll avoid international shipping. When did you send the package? It typically takes about a week and a half to two full weeks before the package clears Canada Customs and gets delivered.

From what the PO guy tells me, USPS will actually track packages to Canada but you'll need to ship it "Registered mail" which is big $$$. No thanks.

Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear this man... I always get my parts internationally since the availability and prices here are ridiculous :fact

Hate to see guys ruining it for me :shake

Maybe use an extra layer of protection on communites with rankings for buyers too on international deals... :dunno

Yea it sucks for the good people trying to buy stuff honestly. I've shipped international many times and never had a problem. That's why I didn't realize the potential hassle this transaction was and all this headache for a lousy 200 bucks. I shipped both wheels in two different packages to canada with no problems via usps. Lucky for me that member was an honest buyer. Otherwise that would've cost me bigtime. Thanks for the support guys, just giving you guys the heads up incase you have future deals such as mine.

I've bought tons of stuff this way from sellers in the states and I always request USPS. The tracking number maps directly over to Canada Post and the package needs a signature to pick it up -- so there should be complete traceability.

Tell him to get stuffed as the number is completely traceable!!!

Not trying to take sides here since I don't know what really happened but it definitely puts a damper on the trust of buying/selling things here because of a few bad transactions.

I recently sent an custom Jet-Hot coated Termignoni exhaust system complete with Termi y-pipe over to Alberta. I would have gone ape shit if something "happened" and I would be out of pocket. The buyer got the packages within two weeks like I knew he would but international shipping still make me nervous every single time. I've sold MANY things to the guys on the forum without a single issue so far, I guess I'm lucky one of the fortunate ones. Only had one bad buying transaction for about $100 on here too and that guy disappeared faster than a fart in the wind never to be heard from again.

That is correct, once the package passes customs, it is on the Canadian Post Office's responsibility. If your buyer wanted USPS he knows this so he would be accepting the risk. Sometimes I have had items take 3 weeks to get to Canada.

1. Did you lose money?
2. When was the item sold?
3. Have you checked the customs number?

Everything to Canada from the USPS is Express.

Express just has a different meaning in Canada... :lol

1 day flight
3 days at customs in RSA...(they then decide it's not a bomb there is no tic)
2 days to destination Post office...getting lost 15km from the airport
10 days at post office before fat lady gets off her chair to tag it for delivery/collection

I send things via USPS Priority all the time. I've only had one bad issue and that was here in the states. The package came open in shipping and when it arrived, no contents. I buy insurance on all packages just in case something like that happens or if the buyer tries to scam me.

i sell and buy alot here and on zx10 forum.
never ever had a problem.
once one item took around 3 weeks to get to us.
most of the time i use canadapost which USPS would take over after crossing the order.
or use purolator which is just like fedex.

i think it was just the member that had problems
sorry to hear about ur bad experience.
was he new to the forum?

same here! I've bought and sold many items here on the forum and 99% of the members here are solid people. I consider myself fairly new to online selling but I enjoy it. I've been selling stuff online for about 4 years and I can't say that I know the in's and out's of the business. I know most people don't either so this info would've been very valuable to me sooner. Don't want to go into detail about the perp, not a big deal.

no updates. This was just a warning to guys trying to sell stuff that aren't aware of potential problems with online sales. I'm not making a big deal out of this because it's not worth my time. This is by no means an insult to canadian buyers, I have sold to canadian buyers before so please don't take this message the wrong way. The issue I had was a few months old and I let it pass. Only reason I brought it up was because the guy came back on the forum looking to buy more parts.

If the buyer specified USPS, they know the risks they are assuming for the lower shipping costs. :fact

I have sent a PM to Madmike.

I know for fact that the USPS is the best carrier. Fast and without foot prints on it's package. But seller must be aware that out of the USA they don't track it. So don't take paypal payments if he his out of the country. But you do have the receipt with transaction number and his address, maybe that can help out.
Thanks for warning us man! I hope he burns in hell

For the fifteenth time the USPS tracking number tracks directly into Canada Post tracking - no if ands or buts about it!! As near as I can tell the OP never got a tracking number - I've asked this multiple times and he's yet to state he got the required number but rather listened to some idiot at the counter that said it doesn't track.

OP - did you actually get a USPS tracking number and did you log on to the Canada Post website and track it??? Or did you take a small school bus to class while wearing a hockey hemet???

I'm on Vancouver Island in Canada and have no trouble tracking stuff on this side of the border. When I order things I actually track them hour by hour so as to ensure I get to the post office to pick up my parts before my wife gets there and subsequently kills me - so I know of what I speak!!

While the tracking system is in place. The Canadian tracking service isn't provided on the US side. :fact
