You couldn't of asked for a better day to ride. Temps were in the low 80's with sunny blue skies no humidity. In other words perfect for Florida fall riding. I started out with no problems and did some mild twisties to warm up the tires then headed out for some better roads. I decided to hit Sparta Road. It's got one good
sharp curve you really have to watch. Well, I ended up low siding
through it. I was doing maybe 35 to 40 when I got up to it. Everything was flowing just fine as I entered it. I then started the turn and the next thing I know I'm on the road sliding and I can hear that grinding noise that your bike makes as it slides. I thinking "man ain't this a bitch" I slid off the road into the grass and sand and after a couple of tries I was able to get the bike back up. Messed up my back too. You would not think a R1 laying on it's side would be that heavy. Only thing I can figure out is I must have hit some sand. I remember looking all the way through the turn and had focused on the exit right when I went down.

Damage to the bike was not that bad. I scraped the hell out of the left engine cover, some scratches on the left mid, nick on bar end and brake lever, scratches on left tail, and broke a screw out of the windscreen. {if anyone has one of those screws let me know} Damage to me. Well, I had on full gear. I was wearing my
Fieldsheer mesh jacket this time. Ripped the jacket pretty good and burnt a small section on the knee of Joe Rocket leathers. All I got was some small rash on my elbow and left hand. I should have had on my leather jacket, but didn't. Gloves held up pretty good too. Live and learn. Just becareful out there guys.

DAMN, sorry to hear about that Randy. I'm glad you made it out with only minor injuries, could have been much worse. If your back keeps acting up, see a doc. Back injures are nothing to mess with. Good luck!

Yeah, it won't be much to fix it up. Hell, I just go back from another ride. I went and retraced my route and tried to figure out
what happened.

He's a shot going into the curve.

For sure. :fact This is the second low side on this bike. I was very
lucky. It could have been much worse off.

glad to know your o.k.

Lucky you had good run off room... If it happened on many of the roads I often ride, you'd be sliding off into a tree instead of sand/grass...

PM me your Address, I've got a full set (6pcs.) of gold ano ones you can have (pay-it-forward), I can pop them in the post for you :thumbup

Here's an idea, these will hide present damage & prevent any further damage to cases . . . Creations Engine Armour, highly recomended, very functional, multi-layers of Kevlar & CF, with sealant that helps absorb impact :thumbup
