So I am wanting to do some things to my bike over the Winter. The first thing is to do fulfill the needs.

Bike information:

14K...got it with 4K back in 2008.

Upgrades

1. Targa Seat Cowl
2. Greggs Customs
3. Stealth Exhaust Mod
4. Soft Seat Mod (Knoplace on ebay)
5. Wired Beltronics Radar with Speaker System
6. Scorpion Alarm

Disclaimer

I am not a racer but still loves the curves(learned over years of riding). Thinking hard about taking a cornering class next warm season. Just want a nice gentle beast that moves when I want her.

Mandatory Winter Fixes

1. Change all fluids
2. Run a round of Seafoam through her
3. Change Spark Plugs
4. **Maybe** Add Smog Block offs (Sort of tired of the popping)

Wanting upgrades for the Winter

1. Paint job (sketch added in the attachments)
2. New Exhaust (Short GP style...trying to find right now...Looking at Competition Werkes GP exhaust. Having them see what it takes to customize or build a full system).
3. New Frame Sliders...depending on paint.
4. New Rear Sets

***I know the 02-03 are considered the TANK of the R1 seeing that they are stated to basically last forever as long as proper maintenance is done, is there anything you would recommend for that year? I know the stator was considered one thing to watch for as it seems that they go out around 17-20K.***

Bike right now

Bike as I would like to see it

Painted like this (All flat with a little shine)...did this at work using paint on a 00 so it would be a little different on the 03 seeing that the fairing are different. But I would have that blue and white strip run across the back of the seat cowl and then match the other side.

With this exhaust(Ceramic Coasted Black) if I can honestly find it

the smog block offs are only 20bucks... y not do it while ur changing ur fluids...
if you do all the things you wanna do over the winter that is a damn good winter project right there
that pipe is different... i likey... but if you can't find it cereamic coated you can always do it yourself... not hard to do at all...
only things i would add to the list are a PCIII, w/ custom tune, and wrap your air box with heat reflective tape(this might just be a mind thing, but i got my city going bonkers over it, everyone loves it)

Oh that pipe can't seem to be found period. Harris no longer makes it. I have seen it for the 05 GSXR 1000 but don't know how much work it would take to modify. And the plan was to take it to get ceramic coated. Know of a really good place that does great work. Make look into the Power Commander...just been trying to decide if I really need it or not.

A steering damper is a must. I bought a Scott's shortly after purchasing mine. Also installed a 520 chain. (-1, +1 gearing) I also installed an HID kit which made a very significant difference while riding at night and allowing other drivers to see you. Graves velocity stacks were another fairly cheap and noticeable upgrade (for throttle response) I've got 60K miles on my '02 and she runs better than the day I bought her.

If you truly want to be able to use it in the corners as you say - exhaust and the rest of the stuff is second to suspension setups and learning environments. Track days.

Yeah, you could do the Dylan Special and spend a bazillion bucks - and get a one-of-a-kind, Yamaha-should-have-built, oh-wait-they-did-MotoGP bike, or just keep it simple.
(nice bike Dylan)
