what do you "full time" track riders do?

I was just thinking, people ride on the street so they can ride whenever they want. But for those who ride only track, and not on the street, you guys can only hop on your bike maybe once a month or if youre lucky every few weeks. But even that is not too often. What do you guys do in the time when you could be riding on the street? I would think you would have the urge to ride. Are there other things you do that are just as fun as riding? Or does the satisfaction you get from track riding last you till the next track day?hope that made sense.... :riding

Well my friend that does only trackdays went and bought a second bike...a sport touring model...he doesn't push it hard it's just good to be able to ride and then on the track is where it's the best with his track only bike. If you can afford to get a second bike it's not too bad since you can have a sensible street machine and a decked out track bike.

After I do a trackday, I'm usually so exhausted from riding hard all day that I don't even want to look at my bike for another week or two.

Sometimes, after a trackday when I get home, I leave the bike in the van/trailer for days. I don't even prep it for the street.

I'm usually completely satisfied with riding that I don't even have the desire to ride the street.

So think of it this way. After a trackday, I usually don't want to ride for 2 weeks. And my next trackday is usually planned 4 weeks apart. So it only "feels" like I'm waiting 2 weeks to ride. Hope that makes sense to you.

I've been wondering the same thing? I seem to be at a cross roads, I recently crashed and my wife's not to crazy about me getting a new sportbike. I think I can talk her into a track bike and maybe a cruiser (which doesn't make sense to me).

I'm really regretting all those times I came home after a good ride and telling her all about the 299km/h straights, 200km/h + sweepers what was I thinking????

I honestly don't think I would be happy with just a track bike I would miss those 70 degree nights just going for a quick burn before bed, too good for blowing the stink off from a shitty day....... I don't think I will get that on a cruiser either just looks dull

Unfortunatly divorce would probably cost more than both a track bike and a cruiser...................

:cryin

I know some pros have it in their contract, saying that they are not to have streetbikes, to avoid getting in an auto accident and missing part of the season.
I personally would die if I couldnt ride at least once a week.

took the words from my mouth. after race/trackday im exhausted. Usually dont want to ride for a good week or two. Not only that, once you begin to ride the track you go to the street and are scared shitless. Way too many variables that can come into effect and cause you to wreck. I HATE the street, unless im just cruising.

I haven't even been to the track and i'm gettin the same symptoms. I've been on a few fast paced mountain runs and now i dont really care to ride around here anymore.. but as a broke college student, yeah i work 2 jobs and i still dont have enough money for trackdays :cryin

with all of the sweet mountain riding here I would have a hard time doing only track days. Riding in the city blows the big one, but we've got some sweet canyon runs and bitchin scenery. If I didn't have the mountains I would consider not riding on the street.

yep, but rossi has the ability to dictate his own contract... he would be able to do whatever the fugg he wants...

i can understand everyone loves their track days so much and that riding between one set of traffic lights is not much fun... but what about cruising through the mountains on a sunny day between country towns??? what about riding down the coast on a summers day??? what about just starting up your bike with no plans and just riding wherever you feel like going??? these are some of the best parts of riding on the street! :thumbup

I do not miss street riding one bit its boring and dangerous. Just like Turbo said, it might be a few days before I even get unloaded from a trackday. I stay pretty busy with school and working, so any freetime I have is used to do one of 3 things:

1. Drink Beer
2. Bang my wife
3. Figure out how to get tires so I can do another trackday.

I hear ya on that bro. I would love to have some nice mountainous roads in my area.

But on the flip side, there is nothing worse than being 50-100 miles from home and pitching your bike in the woods. Been there, and done that. :yesnod
