What is "HOT" vs "COLD" weather

I'm trying to understand how to select a compound for Dunlop Sportmax D211 Slicks. These come in "S"oft, "M"edium, and "E"ndurance.

The Dunlop's general FAQ (Dunlop Racing » Technical/FAQ) says:
"As a general rule, softer compounds cold tear more easily. In the cold weather, you should run a compound that is more hard than soft"

But what is 'cold' weather in terms of degrees C? What is 'hot'?
I've looked also at Pirelli's nice circle charts, where they map SC0, SC1, SC2, between Cold and Hot , but again I did not see temperature numbers.

:banghead:

Note: I don't think this specific model exists in US. I referred to the FAQ above which is from Dunlop US, I didn't find similar one for EU variants.

I think the cold/hot term is used more to describe the track temperature rather than weather as such. I would consider anything below 20 as cold, up to 40 as perfect and anything above that as hot. But that's just my own rules and I am sure someone will disagree :)
