I use a no-streak glass/surface cleaner now, but I'm sure there is some better stuff out there...

Any high end caranuba wax will work great :thumbup

I prefer Mothers or Mequires, myself. Between waxings I use Mequires detail spray.

On the 02/03 Silver & Black, Mothers "Back to Black" does wonders on the mids and other black plastics (mirrors, etc.) :yesnod

I've heard great things about the McGuire's 3 step cleaning system. There's a thread about it on the forum somewhere. I've used the soap, and it's great. Now, just need to polish up the fairing with the other stuff.

If you want to do it proper, rorlow is more then right. A clay bar also will really help. The spray's like plexus and meguires detail spray (what I use), work well for a quick clean.

i did a how to on detailing a while ago.

including clay bar and waxing.
I use Meguire's for the once a year detail and then Plexus throughout the year.
Get a lot of comments on how nice and deep the shine is all the time.

Honda polish blows.

I tried to use that stuff and it made clean up 2x as hard.

I use a mequires wax on the plastics.

Simplegreen on the wheels/swingarm/forks/sprocket to clean it. Then I use Maxima SC1 on my black mids/frame/wheels/swingarm

Then a nic wipe down and the bike shines. SC1 is amazing on dirt bikes/quads too. Since that was what it was designed for :)

Wish Yamaha had a product like Honda Cleaner/Polish!! Stuff works great, but I feel like I am spraying acid into my ladies eyes!!!:lol

I use it to wipe my whole bike down, have not used water on her yet, no rain either okay enough!! I will Shut TF UP!!!

Funny but true. The Honda polish is the best. We asked the Yami team at AMA races cause thir cleaner was all taped up..... He slipped the tape aside to show that it was Honda and smiled..... Hence the reason it was taped up... :D

Plexus is also great.

I dont like the honda stuff......left the surface kinda nasty...

The Yam dealer told me about Plexus and it :rock

It is alittle more but it seems to last alot longer and you do not need to use as much as the honda stuff to get the same result...so the coupple extra :dollar seems to pay off

Secret weapon for the tough jobs:
Kit ScratchOut + microfiber towel
then plexus to maintain

I've actually polished gouges out of windscreens with Scratchout, microfiber and a finishing sander.

Don't forget to keep your microfiber free of grit or it will defeat the whole purpose.

I am going to try that out, I have not really given it a fair shot due to the price. I need a new can of it and will try Plexus this time!!
