I personally would not buy it the seller is full of it.

 

I have an 07 R1 raven with the same mileage on it and I'll tell you from experience that the flat black is almost impossible to keep from getting scratched from normal riding. So if you are anal about your bike don't get flat. So I'd definitly look at it first. As far as the melt spot its probably just the sun being reflected through the windscreen but another reason to look at it first. And just another tidbit, the 07 gets more respect than the 08. I've never riden the 08 but everywhere I go salesman and people tell me I was lucky to get the year I got because the 08 was tuned differently. I bought mine new at the end of 08 for 8000 that's the only reason I bought it at the time and nobody mentioned anything about the difference between the 08 until after I bought it. I dont know if this is true or not but i have heard it from mechanics to salespeople to people on the street.

 

uhh the 08 was tuned differently to get rid of the hesitation in acceleration that the 07 had in their ECU. Besides that they are an identical bike.

 

iv seen other 07-08 bikes with a slight "melt" i guess you would call it? due to the clear screen and direct heat!

 

Definitely a scuff on the left fairing and the meter does appear to have some melt from direct sunlight. Possibly, he buffed the scuff out? :dunno

Can't really do much about the meter, but its a pretty notorious thing to happen if you keep the bike out in alot of direct sunlight, especially with DB windscreens.

Also something i noticed, in the 2nd large pic its most noticeable but doesn't it look like there is a scuff on the corner of the right ram air duct?

 

whats the deal with the bandana on the mirror? is it a thug bike?

Just an observation.. the ignition barrel and key are different to mine as well as a few other small differences, but being in Australia I have a Euro spec. The euro spec comes with a third red key which is an important part of the security feature of the bike and goes toward proving legitamite ownership. Does the US version come with a red key? If so where is it, and if they dont have it don't buy it.

 

nope us americans get screwed out of any immobilizers on our bikes. no red key and we get the ugly cheap looking key also

 

I would keep searching if I were you. Looks like the seller is probably hiding a bit more.

Cleaner bikes can be had for less money. I'd pass.

For the record, you can replace just the face of the gauges and not the entire thing.
