That's the one I'm thinking of buying right now, I added the guy on FB. Just curious if there's anything cheaper or lighter.

 

Short of getting one used (somehow) its prolly your best bet :lol Or get yours cut

I've always gone with Galfer....only because they seem to be the easiest to get used. Not sure on the weight savings, but by feel, it's noticable - turn that into rotating mass = worth it (for a race bike anyway).

 

I'm still too much of a chicken shit to use the rear at the track :lol

I have two of these OEM rotors cut by EDR. Sorry, don't know the exact weight but they are lighter.

By the way, the cost for this machine work is 90 bucks with sending in your own OEM rotor.

 

90 bucks is a good deal honestly and i'm sure its a pretty decent turn around time too.

This rear rotor is Titanium and just weighs a few ounces . Have to use organic pads so it wont wear out .
I got it about siix years ago from Yoyodyne for a decent price and it was the last one .
Looking into having one made out of Aluminum next . Will weigh next to nothing . Then hook up one of Thorsten Duhrbans mini caliper setups that hides behind swingarm . Cant even see it from the side .

 

I asked Yoyodyne.. they said no.

ISR custom facility, cheaper than you think. 4mm thick, full of holes, all good.

Between the GBmoto rear caliper and hanger (there is lighter and posher, but GB moto is the best bang for buck) the disk, drilling the rear bolts, re routing the brake line, filing the rear master cylinder, switching to aluminium clevis blah blah Well over a kilo has gone.

Now if someone has a spare 10 to 15 grand... I have an excellent way to spend it :sing:

 

The Thorsten hidden caliper setup is cool, but heavily limits the rotors you can use from what I've seen. RC guys have had a ton of issues with them, when swapping rotors. That ti rotor is sweet. I have a machinist friend, might just have him lighten my stocker.

 

EDR is the place in oregon that does mirror block offs? im looking to get my rear rotor machined on my 05

Ok thank you! I was checkin out MM last night. Pretty cool. Are they bolt on ? No modificationd to anything to make them work?

 

No modifications required, very easy install. Direct fit replacement - Just heat your stock bolts thoroughly to soften the red thread lock on them.

 

Stock vs MMR and I love mine.

Should I get new pads? My bike only has 3000 miles so they are pretty new I would hate to waste them

 

I would order new bolts too just in case they decide to be a pain in the D***, the last bolt broke my torq bits so I had to spin with a chisel & hammer .... Plus I like replacing bolts with new parts anyways, doesn't hurt
