Amsoil fully synthetic 10W-40 and stock or K&N oil filter on my ZX-12R.

 

Fram filters are the biggest pieces of crap on the market your better off plugging the filter hole and going without then using a fram!

 

Changing your oil every 1500 miles is fine, although a waste of money. If your using a quality synthetic the 4k recommended is just fine (unless your tracking the bike, thats another story).

And dump the fram. He's right they're el cheapo garbage.

Haven't changed my oil in the R1 yet, but it'll be Amsoil 10w-40 or the mobil mx4t, and likely a K&N filter.

Really any decent synthetic (or dino) oil made for bikes is just fine, as are most filters. The key is just making sure you have enough oil in it and it and the filter are changed when they're supposed to be.

had guy in town with KN filter that spun3 rod bearing due to pressure spring in oil filter breaking and blocking oil flow. K&N sent him a check for 10k and told him to keep his bike(had turbo on it) after about 4 months of fighting with them. prolly a freak deal, but ill stick to yamaha filters or scott.
