I have always liked the sound of Akrapovics on Yamahas...very throaty...and smooth.

I've heard an R1 with a muzzy's of all pipes and it sounded nice and throaty, Jardine isn't decent

 

I've got akra on my 02 and I've gotten compliments from harely riders on the sound quality of it. the build quality is excellent also. try doing a search this topic has been covered numerous times.

this topic has been covered to death... there is no definitive answer, it is all personal preference...

you need to check out the looks and sounds of the pipes in person and make a decision based on that... maybe hit up some second hand bike shops, they will have some 03's for sale and most will have aftermarket cans mounted... then get the sales assistant to fire them up and make a decision based on that...

i know this is prolly a stupid question but i need to know what Brand of pipe i should put on my bike(03'R1).
what i am looking for is a slip-on with a really clean,sharp sound but not too loud. i have already ruled out a D&D, as my friend had one on his CRB600 and it was TOO loud.

In the above threads alone...7 different brands of pipes were mentioned...by seven different people...Gonna have to figure this one out on your own.

There was one other guy with the Ti muzzy's on his R1 and he was happy with it.

I think the stock cans look the best
if you gut the cat & race baffle

yeh i am definitely gonna look into some of those pipes.
but right now i am liking the mirage slip on. it is sweet.
and for 250 if i don't like it i can always juss put the stock pipe back on.

you can check ebay for the race baffles. One of the guys here makes them, LDHR1 I think
