all the guys i know just assume that it is a shift light and they have pre 02 r1 and they dont have any light there so i thought i would ask u guys

 

 

is this YOUR bike?? it is a shift light. It is set to go off at whatever rpm you choose above 7 grand (i think) . So when your going 155 your rpm's are above whatever you have it set at.

 

i have never messed with that light before i never pay attention to it and only noticed it becaues it was night

 

how long have you had this bike??

btw my buddy has an 01 R1 and he jsut got it from the shop and it is dynoed and 158 bhp.

My 2000 R1 has a pipe and jet kit and dyno's at 225 bhp

No offence but dyno's can be made to show any number....unless it's a heavily modded R1, which if so, show some pics we'd love to see

Yeah, a mistake is one thing, this was just stupid. I knew about that light 9 months before I even had the bike. No offense bestofcali, its just hella funny!

Oh Shit your light came on? Wow man when that light comes on you should follow these emergency procedures immediately. . .

1. Coast to a complete stop . . .
2. Turn bike off . . .
3. Dismount from vehicle . . .
4. Push motorcycle home . . .
5. Locate manual . . .
6. Attempt to read complete manual (cover to cover) . . .

It is highly recomended you follow 5 & 6 before attempting further operation of vehicle.

 

what the hell does that green light mean when you are in between 1st and 2nd gear. i was thinking it may mean the bike is in neatral or something because when i give the bike gas, it doesn't go anywhere. can you guys help?????

Difference is, not reading your DVD manual aint likely to get you killed.
I don't even own an 02 but I know what that light is for. Surely bestofcali
should have read the manual :fact before bolting down the highway at 155mph.
I mean, heck, that's just common sense.

I think he knows what the shift light is, he probably didn't expect it to come on after 6th gear. Just common sense. No need to flame someone for asking for advice.
