What Would You Change IF You Could get the Manufacturer To Actually Listen

Sold an Arai and Shoei with Smoke visors to a local customer last week and was showing the shield changes on each. Even though we have used both for years and have the Arai shield changes down pat, the customer and his girlfriend both struggled initially on the Arai shield.

They finally got it after getting used to the clicks and pulling.
Of course, it only took them about 5 seconds to figure out the Shoei Shield System
Both said.. "Why does Arai not change their Shield System" ?

Got us thinking, IF you could get the Manufacturer to change their product ... Something that made Common Sense. .......... What would it be?

Put trip computers on bikes. Distance to empty, MPG that kind of thing. Knowing how many miles you have left on a tank is very comforting. Also a built in gear indicator on the dash.

09+ already had gear indicator

I could be wrong, but I believe the reason the Arai visor system is difficult had something to do with not creating a flat spot in the helmet shell to mount the visor as this reduces strength. That being said it is definitely a pain in the ass.

One other thing. For the price we pay for our bikes the factory should provide links on Youtube or even their website with instructional videos on how to do common maintenance tasks. A video with real time instructions on changing oil, taking off plastics, etc. Step by step with part numbers for filters and stuff in the video. Just so anyone can do their own maintenance with accurate numbers on torque specs, wrench sizes, fluids used all the stuff we have to search for.

I ruined my read on this by reading the whole thread, instead of just answering your question.

It's kind of a fun deal as it really is the crux of QA/QC concerns when it comes to a quality minded business. Since I sort of work in that arena, I'm always asking those questions. As a customer, I want the best of all for my buck. As a provider I want to supply the product with the demand that will meet or exceed my production. So for me, I'd have to ask the manufacturer to observe the requirements/desires of the customer. Pretty fundamental in my book, but I look forward to seeing the replies of others here and elsewhere. :thumbup

Yamaha should start making their damn rear sets and passanger pegs match the color of the bike or atleast black instead of putting plain aluminum. They have only had 2 schemes I can think of since 98 that the plain aluminum rear sets matched

An optional extended range gas tank! Have the standard 4.5 gallon and have the option available for a 6 gallon tank (or close too it). The one thing that has always bothered me with any of the full on sport bikes is the lack of range the tanks have. Be it for longer rides or for commuting to and from work. I'd like to be able to do 200 miles+ on a single tank without having to ride like a weenie all the time to even get close.

Adjustable rearsets color matched to the frame, include the damn SEAT COWL like Suzuki, and do either the Eneos or regular GP paint scheme on the 2013 if Lorenzo wins the championship.

Make another LE model complete with full ohlins, light wheels, and a spare set of track plastics.
