Poor guy... he's got to be so frustrated

Day 1 wasnt much better... I know Vale is down there too, but consistently NH has been down the list. What do you guys think?
Doesnt do good that D Pedrosa is pulling results, even though the bike was molded to his 4'6" frame :lol

1 Marco Melandri Honda Gresini 1'39.484
2 Toni Elias Honda Gresini 1'39.675
3 Randy de Puniet Kawasaki Racing 1'40.225
4 Carlos Checa Honda LCR 1'40.356
5 Colin Edwards Fiat Yamaha 1'41.755
6 Olivier Jacque Kawasaki Racing 1'41.908
7 Makoto Tamada Dunlop Yamaha Tech3 1'42.091
8 Valentino Rossi Fiat Yamaha 1'42.348
9 Nicky Hayden Repsol Honda 1'42.562
10 Sylvain Guintoli Dunlop Yamaha Tech3 1'42.736
11 Vittoriano Guareschi Ducati Marlboro 1'44.780

reports? as in the 1st two race results? those reports? :) j/k man, but i think anyone can tell that he's having trouble adjusting when you watch a world champion come in around the middle of the pack. This is what makes champions though. Rossi went from the best bike to the yami a few years ago and pulled it off. now they are all on new bikes and look who's proving he can overcome? i'm not loyal to anyone, but i love to watch how rossi can overcome almost anything. overcoming the odds is what makes a champion in my opinion

Oh this is going to be unpopular, but I think you need to be objective versus being biased because he's one of us Americans.

If you look at last year, what was his strength?? Was it consistently winning, was it showing dominance that got him the number 1 plate?? Nope, unfortunately not. For all that magic he has at Laguna due to his confidence there, he never beat Rossi head to head. Rossi DNF'd himself out of the winning. Had the Yamaha not been a total POS in the beginning of the year (remember all the vibrating and ridability problems), it would have been another landslide. The other guys that finished better or were usually faster, just had consistancy problems with finishing or crashing out.

The plain and simple fact is, Nicky won because he always finished and got points while the faster riders where DNF'ing or having bike problems.

He is good, but he is not one of the greats, and that is what you need to do it on your own terms, not lucking into it.

Flame away, but the results speak for themselves if you can be objective. 3rd or 4th place consistently should not make anyone a champion IMHO.

Well he won it and any race series is based on total points. Less then that I agree. If Rossi shits the bed he loses and someone else wins, they win, end of story. Its a hard argument to have.

I knew he was f'd putting on the #1 plate. Dude jinxed his shit... :no

honda is betting on pedrosa , nicky is just a 2nd rider now:fact

:stpd: That bike is built for Pedrosa. Nicky doesn't like it and Honda doesn't care. To be fast at this level riders want everything a certain way. The Yamaha Rossi won with coming from HRC was a completely different machine than what they had the year before, it was built and designed specifically
for him. I read that Hopper stayed with Suzuki, even though he had offers from better teams, because he was guaranteed #1 status.

Honestly, if you look at nicky's finishes over the last couple of years, he's doing what he has done since he started motogp, with the exception of an unusual win or top five finish. Just my opinion.

well gents as i predicted on another thread, nicky is not going to do a whole lot this year, the ones to watch will be DP and Rossi. as some of you guys stated nicky won simply because other riders had trouble or crashed. and in my opinion that is not winning.

Quoted For Truth.

He's just a bit out of his element, and what's worse, is that their are younger riders that are more talented than him that are already in the series.

Blame Honda all they want for backing Dani, but if you ever saw him and Stoner dicing in 250's you'd understand that those guys are the future of MotoGP when Rossi goes off to race cars.

Honestly, I would really like to see Nicky come back to the AMA and make the series stronger and more competetive. I don't think he's on the same level as the great American champions of past that I grew up worshiping.

He reminds me more of Doug Chandler when he was winning AMA championships without really winning races or being a dominant guy.

He worked hard and won a World Championship fair and square. I really don't want to seem him fade into mediocrity like Kenny Jr, and really would rather see him winning a lot and dicing with guys that he can actually show them a wheel to.

Good commentary... I think Nicky's pride would prevent that. I believe that Nicky will mature into the bike. But with such a competitive series he better not wait to long.
