I'm also looking for ideas, I'm currently in the process of modding the R1 for the first time. I plan on doing the YEC ECU reflash in the near future. I have a couple questions about the suspension though..

How much of a difference will I get from stock to lets say Ohlins setup?
Would it be better to replace the stock fork internals (as far as price and convenience)?

So far I've got new tires, smog plates, velocity stacks, lightweight battery, slip on exaust, BMC filter, and a 520 setup with -2/+1. (I mostly trailer my bike to the canyons and mountains, not a commuter).

Free stuff

Adjusting levers and bars to fit me as good as they could. Ease of use.
Fiddling with suspenders until happy (this is an ongoing thing...)

Easy Stuff

1/8th turn Quick action throttle; so much easier.
Solid mounted and raised rider seat. More comfort, better feedback.

Harder Stuff

Reduced offset yokes, I like the 'extra turning' they allow.
BST's. Hard as in hard to justify. Awesome, but in one hit its a lot of cash.

Boring stuff

Riding courses. Whilst war-stories are significantly duller, I find not hitting stuff to be, on balance, a good thing.

+2/-1 sprockets. The best and the cheapest mod so far... ;)

May sound simple but for me, Tyres :fact

Never ceases to amaze me how much a good tyre can transform a bike, and your trust in it. Do whatever mods you like if the tyres are rubbish it won't do you much good.

Completely forgot about those! You're 100% right. Sticky rubber is one of the best things you can do to any stock bike. :thumbup

I can't just pick one mod.

Best mod that puts a smile on my face every time I use it...Quick Shifter

Best mod that I can feel....YEC ECU and BST's.

Mod that has improved cornering skill..... AP Thumb brake.

Mod I could not live without.....AK's and Penske.

Hey D...I'm thread-jacking but whatever. What shape are your steering stop adjusters on your attack triples? Did you lose much range from left to right lock when you installed the setup?

Hey Seth, I lost a ton of turning radius with my triples. The bottom clamp is massive compared to stock. The stops are mandatory to keep from hitting the radiator. I might not have lost 1/2 but it's probably close to that. I used stick-on lead tire weights because the stops that came with the triple were far from keeping the bottom clamp from hitting the radiator. Most race teams will drill and tap a bolt and locknut into the frame stops to prevent contact. I had a thread about it when I had mine installed. TJ at Rider's Discount provided some great pics and info. The loss of turning radius is only noticable when turning around in the garage and does not affect track performance at all.
