Im finally ready to depart with about $3k for an exhaust, however I can't make up my mind on which too get. I have the 09 Raven R1. I know i def want carbon can's but there really isn't much guidance on the different systems.

Evo I vs Evo II vs Racing...etc.

If you guys had to money to blow which would you get. I know i'll need a retune on my ecu. I'm also looking at getting the graves smog block off and the graves clutch kit. What are you recommendations for exhaust and what do you think about my plans. I'm in the socal area and ride the twisty but looking to get on the track.:sneaky.

I got the Graves full Ti for my '12 and it looks and sounds awesome,I'm sure you'll be happy with either of the two. Graves exhaust on R1's are the AMA Superbike Champs two years in a row,Yamaha trusts Graves to run thier U.S. factory superbike effort need I say more ?

This discusion has nothing to do with the op's original question anymore. The only point I was trying to make to Chris was and others is Akra dwarfs Graves and has more experience building exhasuts of any kind. To say Graves has more experience building exhausts for bikes we all ride is a rediculous statement. I'm done...:vanish

Seemed like money was an issue from the way the question was asked, so trying to show other options are available for less money...

You know what they say man - opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

Idc. I've got 2bros on mine for the sole fact that they were super cheap (even bought them used) and they sounded waay better than the stock set. I don't even like them :lol Get whatever you like most and what fits your budget :fact How fast you are around the track has very little to do with how much you have done to your bike or how much power it has at anything close to most of our riding levels :fact

Ha Ha, thanks I just wanted to know if ppl had different experiences with the different akra's. The websited does not explain the differences very well. Thanks. I think i'm going with the evo II carbon system.

To Tae478...

May I ask why you want a full system instead of a cat. eliminator system? I've been wondering why guys are so anxious to ditch the EXUP system? Seems like you're spending an extra $600+ just to get rid of it. For a bike more suited to the street with the occasional track day, wouldn't it be more beneficial to keep the EXUP and invest in weight-savings elsewhere?

Not suggesting... Only asking! :sing:

Furthermore... Will a race plastics even fit with the EXUP system intact???

If you're racing or want the best and can afford it, get the evo. If it's a street bike and you're not ready to drop tons of cash then get the racing as you won't notice a different other then the metal turning colors.

Akro race = stainless tubing

Akro evo = ti tubing

I've read there is a slight performance advantage with ti due to its thermal characteristics but have never seen back to back dyno runs to prove it. Obviously ti is a bit lighter. Both systems are sweet.

When I get the cash saved I'm going for the race system. Motomummy.com has the best price I've found.

I prefer the look of the Akro to the graves. I would love to see back to back tuned dyno runs with them but would bet difference is negligible

For those who have a full Akra system, do you have a problem with your canisters moving, in other words, when you grab the canister and jiggle from side to side it moves, it feels a bit loose at the connecting point right where the canister tubes meet the y-pipe, I just got done installing an Akra evoII system and this is the issue I'm having, all the nuts are torqued to spec and all the retaining springs are on.

you just beat me to it! that's not even the full carbon one we have coming out in a few weeks. :boobies i can promise you that chuck graves can make a pipe for an r1 or r6 as good as anyone on the planet! wait till y/all see the bikes at laguna seca!:)

I've just finished Evo2 installation.. Is this normal that rubber hose over the oil filter touches the headers? You can see it beneath 3 and 4 pipe. I'm worried that the heat will melt it... Any hints?

Thanks!
