I am in the market for a new helmet (Shoei RF-1000) and was wondering what your opinions on the best helmets and brands are?:thumbup

I've heard the RF-1000 is a decent lid.:fact I use a Shoei RF-900 for the track and have no complaints other than wind noise, but ear plugs take care of that.

I think I am going to try an ICON next - the Mainframe helmet fits me as well as my Arai.

If $$ isn't a concern I would go with Aria or Suomi. For an all around good Helmet you can't beat Scorpion. I have 4 lids including an $800 Aria and 90% of the time I end up wearing the Scorpion because its the most comfortable helmet I have found, Only use the Aria for pimping because it has better graphics. The lining material in the Scorpion rocks. The only things Aria has I like better is the smooth operating shield and the little wind deflector on your chin and its a few ounces lighter but not that noticeable.

I own a suomy spec1r gorberg and love it. Suomy has by far the best graphics on the market. they are coming out with 06 models so you can find 04's on clearance. My best friend bought the 04 "crown" suomy with a blue shield for like 350. There isnt a lighter feeling helmet Ive handled. The only bad thing I can say is it looks so good you are aware of it at all times!

Back on topic, I've went from a shoei rf 900 to a scorpion exo-700. The scorpion is super comfy for the money:thumbup

I more confused now than ever. My Arai was a great helmet, little on the espensive side but none the less a great helmet. i slid on my head in a nasty high side, and that was the end of my beautiful helmet. Can't complain, cause it did it's job protecting my melon, but damn it was like the first major gift my girl got me :cryin

hey Kevap,
How do you like your vemar? Couldn't get one myself.
I like the shoei helmets myself. Overall, I like whatever feels comfortable.
I love it! Especially the price I paid for it.... made it a must have in my book. Only rode with it once... and I don't have anything to complain about.... I'd give it a 9 out of 10. As I think they could of improved the quick change visor. :yesnod

My OGK is my favorite helmet though... it's lighter then any helmet I have or had in the past. It also has the best ventilation too! :thumbup The OGK can't be beat.... 10 out of 10! :rock

I have always been a die hard Bell person. Was thinking of getting the #5 Bee Yellow replica Arai, don't really care for that cover on the side of the face shield. So was going to go with the Shoei RF-1000 voltage, then they told me it was discontinued...... So I got the Shoei RF-1000 camber(price less than voltage) So is pretty much my first really new helmet(2000+) Must say is pretty nice, ventilation is great, very quite and doesn't pull off you head at high speed. Very happy with it!
So are you at Patrick AFB????? just taking a guess!
